My first run I was doing alright, but I rolled some pretty bad luck and not only happened to spawn in a galaxy arm that had practically no colonizable planets the entire length, but also happened to spawn next to a hyper-aggressive ancient empire that randomly decided I needed to be wiped out before I even colonized 4 worlds.
thats really not true, if you dont retardedly start wars and have a basic understanding of grand strategy games its on of the easiest and most funn games to get into
Conquered 3/4 of the galaxy in the first playthrough, started as militarist, xenophobic, and materialist and stayed thay way for ~400+ years.
AI crisis spawned in a nearby empire, declared war on it and absorbed them both.
Good times, when you could put tachyons on L slots
It was on normal though.
AI is much stronger and smarter in recent patches though. Got fucked over several times because I was either too slow on colonizing every fucking planet I see (synths are awesome) or not spending enough minerals on fleet. Kept me anxious every game.
And the mid- and late-game stuff is now actually somewhat challenging. Awakened xenophile empire had 250k fleet, that took awhile to conquer.
*Unless you play fanatic pacifist
Fanatic purifier in a peaceful galaxy is the hardest thing I've ever done!
Try playing a religious isolationist (spiritual + pacifist + xenophobe)
It gets a stupidly high Unity gain and you're guaranteed to be ahead in ascension perks but it stops you from allying or declaring war on anyone which means you're stuck forever.
Once I have a Ringworld and a couple space habitats I'm just forced to go full Fanatic Spiritualist and either get rid of xenophobe and unite the galaxy or get rid of pacifist and cleanse it if I actually want to progress.
"Wait how do you get rid of shit?" - Someone with a pacifist empire that can curb stomp every other empire in a fractured galaxy, including two awakened empires.
That's where the Old Gods event comes in. If I follow that and in the end choose the embrace option my empire automatically one ups on spiritualism. Meaning if I'm already a spiritualist I go fanatic spiritualist and it randomly gets rid of one of the other two.
Otherwise if you don't have a stupidly low ethics divergence like spiritualist empires usually have, you can suppress the pacifist faction and support the militarist one until you can embrace militarism to get rid of pacifism.
I have all the factions, because my race had the deviant trait for most of the game.
So I should just do what the militarist faction wants, then what? Reform government?
Yeah, keeping that faction happy will help. I find spending unity on the faction screen to actively suppress the pacifist one and supporting the militarist one is usually enough for me. Once you reach a certain threshold on % of population that is a militarist it unlocks an option on the faction screen to embrace that ethos.
Spending influence* not unity.
I just played it a little and I think my game is broken.
I had "A war in heaven", but then the "AI uprising" started and the "Unbidden" showed up, I thought only one endgame crisis was supposed to be able to spawn?!
I got absolutely fucking rekt when the AI spawned and stole 80% of my planets and all my mega structures.
How do I even defeat the AI empire, it doesn't have any war score and retaking my planets still places them under their control and I'll have to annex them before receiving my resources again.
The planets are starting to revolt against their robot overlords, since most of them only have a single robot pop and they're all turning into their own empires.
My ring world is now occupied by 4 different human empires I can't declare war on.
This is so fucked!
Holy shit, what a clusterfuck!
Sounds like you're playing post 1.8 though. There the AI rebellion is not an endgame crisis, that's just counted as a normal rebellion, the only resolution to that is absolute victory to either the AI empire or the original one which means you have to occupy all the planets. Try getting rid of the pacifist ethos asap and start conquering your previous planets.
The Unbidden managed to take out enough of the galaxy and the other guy spawned in my backyard. I was about to retake my planets, but I already had more than 20 small human empires fucking me over, so I gave up.
Yeah, three giants like that at once is probably a lost game anyway. Endgame really fucks you up sometimes.
I did not expect the robot rebellion to take so many of my planets.
I was dicking around with robots, because I'd revived a robotic species earlier in the game and they vanished from my lab.
They later showed up again (2 pop) and when I flipped my fanatic pacifist to spiritual pacifist, their rights must've been reduced so they started a rebellion.
How can two robot pops take over 80% of an empire?
Even worse, they took all my valuable systems and I was stuck with a 500K fleet without resources.
Anyone is teaming up on you, so yeah you really need this +33% fire rate and all the other stuff.
Also the admiral doctrine +5% dmg and firing speed
- I absolutely agree with you. The constitution gets in the way, though.
Well they tried
