A woman screaming was a very effective way to alert nearby humans.
its a defense mechanism, we naturally scream to alert others of dangers, like dogs yelp and shit
I dunno, I usually just leap back, land in a fighting stance, and assess the situation. If there's no room to back away, punch now, ask questions later.
Oh, wait, I forgot. Most women are pathetic asswipes. Nevermind.
the edge is real
Heh. I've gotta agree there. I used to jump at things a good amount, but eventually I pretty much lost my panic response, I can still get startled, but I usually just breathe faster and freeze for half a second.
My ex-GF on the other hand, was the super panicky screaming type. One day the bath tub leaked, and water had seeped throught the whole floor, and I was on the PC doing fuck all, when all of a sudden my GF started jumping and screaming across the room and fell down.
I instinctively stood up, saw her babbling about something across the room, ran to help her. Gave myself a concussion the moment I stood up and took two steps and slammed my head into the tile.
R Please explain the situation instead of incoherently screaming.
Because it's a reaction to be scared. Men and women have different reactions, because men are supposed to be manly protectors, they don't tend to scream and prance.
Some guys still jump at run when being startled, but they just don't scream. Both sides do it, just one more than the other.
Because it's startling? It's not like you have time to decide how best to react without looking dumb
Is it really that startling? Seriously, it's a rat on fucking wheels. A fake rat. the best course of action would've been not to panic
I'm a guy and fast moving small things make me run and scream. Fuck your stereotypes.
Roaches man, stupid fucking roaches.
The same reason a blowfish expands, or a porcupine stand his quills up. It's instinct to make yourself scary when scared.
Yes it is scary to an extent, to our own species, but I very much doubt it would be to any real threat
anything that a predator isn't expecting can spook it and make it likely to run
plenty of animals get startled by a sudden loud noise just like people
