elementary: You need cursive, in middle school none of your teachers will accept anything that's not in cursive

first day of middle school: Do not write ANYTHING in cursive, if you write ANYTHING in cursive you will automatically get a zero

I had to write everything in cursive up until grade 6, now my regular hand writing is sloppy. Oh, but my cursive is good. Not that any job I've applied for, or any grade after 6 has wanted me to write that way.

Really? Cursive writing is a benefit if you don't type on applications around here (connecticut).

I honestly say that even though it's useless, I like that I CAN write cursive when I want to write nicely. But the whole "helping your motor skills" is ********, because I write like a drunk monkey on crack when not writing in cursive.

I practice writing long numbers out in it from time to time, to clear my head. And that surprises me, your teachers must be young then or lazy. Every english teacher I've ever known writes in some variant of cursive. Being able to read it is/was important, writing it isn't.

Generally I've never forgotten any of the things I learned in elementary school, no matter how useless or stupid it was.

However in college you never, ever write out anything except notes so the only person your handwriting really matters to is you. At least, that's in my current experience.

most of my teachers can or do write in cursive, it's just most kid's handwriting is so horrible(me included) that it's hard enough trying to read regular print, though it seems to be mostly the guys who have trouble

I was forced to use cursive so much in elementary that I became better at it than print. I then went on through all of middle and high school using cursive. I'm still using it in college, never got anything handed back yet.

I was told that I have very nice handwriting though.

Really? I wrote in cursive all the time(literally from 1st grade up because I went to a private school and then transferred to a public one in 3rd grade). Also knowing cursive might be useful if you have a job that involves reading other peoples hand writings (because some people write in cursive), I mean better to know how to read it than to not know.

My school was a lot like that, except in middle school and up they still accepted cursive writing, they just did not enforce it. I'm in college now and I only ever write in cursive, its faster than writing in print, they did not lie when they told you that. But I try to take notes and such on my computer as much as possible because my 108 WPM trumps my 50ish WPM when using print/cursive

When we took the SAT last year in June there was a part where you had to write a pledge not to tell anybody the questions and what not. But you had to write it in cursive.

Needless to say, all of us took about 10 minutes to write one sentence. I didn't remember half the letters and began making ones up on the spot. Hardest part of the SAT.

the way you wrote it makes you seem like Community is for idiots. I'm in AP and honors classes and play sports. I have a 3.5gpa to about a 4.0. I'm going to community for the first 2 years because it's incredibly cheaper. But if you want to pay a **** ton of money or be in debt for a long time than be my guest.

It depends on what classes were taken in high school and what classes are being taken in college. I took pretty much all honors and AP classes through high school, so I was very well prepared for my classes at university (I'm majoring in biology and I'm in the honors program). It's definitely not easy and some of it can be very challenging, but it's not as bad as some people make it out to be.

I think many people who say college is easy are only in their first or second year, so all they have taken are GenEds, which are ridiculously easy.

It's not bad, but having been to a university, then to community college and then back to uni I can say the amenities are better (Easier studying), the professors are better (Easier comprehension) and the administrative bureaucracy gets handled at a cleaner pace (Easier everything).
Seriously guy. There's an entire building devoted to NUEN here, two reactors, seven accelerators and some crazy specific labs set up. Community college may be able to familiarize you with the basics of the subject, but the guy who knows his way around the tech and has hands on practice is literally feet on shoulders above the community college guy (Who was lucky to get a Maths professor in the first place, let alone one that specifically taught it with relation to the subject they were studying). For certain things it is far, far worse to go to community college and unfortunately a lot of these things are the hard things that make you stacks of cash.

I disagree. College is easier for me because 1. I'm not at home anymore and that removed a ton of distractions, 2. I spend a lot less time in class so I have a lot more time to be productive, and 3. I have a lot less homework and a lot more high-stakes projects and tests which I am far better at.

For real man, I'm in Financing and my Intermediate Accounting class is so difficult I spend almost all my free time studying for it.
I'm actually only on here cause I'm taking a 30 minute break from looking at it for 3 hours. I have a test tomorrow, so I haven't even gotten to open my GTAV since I've spent all my time with my nose in a book looking at Financial Statements...

I couldn't agree more, even if you have sporadic job and not a regular part time job (i.e. tutoring or writing seminars/programs/simulations for lazy dumb-asses that major dumb ****)
also don't judge me for doing that. I need the money, and a seminar won't save them from exams (we have written and oral exams)

I ******* remember that! Everyone was waiting on me to finish writing the paragraph in cursive. When I saw it I was like "Holy ****, I don't remember this ****!" I ******* BS'd that **** so hard. I tried so hard to remember it, but I could only remember like half so I just kind of added squiggles my print and called it a day.

Well I took them in June this year and to make sure I didn't do horribly I printed for the essay because when I write cursive it looks absolutely horrible and I was about to wonder if that's why I got a fairly low score/.

it is probably just to get a handwriting sample so they can do their best to read what you said. you should try taking an SAT class. helped out a lot of my class mates. normally high schools or community colleges have them.
