When you die your inheritance shouldn't be passed down. There. No snotty rich kids throwing money around. Better world.
You can't take it with you when you're dead and the person's kids didn't do jack **** to deserve that wealth

So you're saying that the government should steal people's property as soon as they die? Hitler didn't even do that.

Is it stealing? They're dead- they're a pile of decomposing sinew and bones, that doesn't mean we should encroach on basic human dignity, but the rich have the power to do anything- good or bad- they can essentially rewrite history and be puppeteers con

Do you really want to give that power to someone who
1: never earned it in the first place?
2: Is more likely to be irresponsible and frivolous with their parent's fortune?

Healthcare, roads, emergency response. You know, good use.
Of course I never was very serious about this idea, it's more just to try and start a philosophic conversation.
Everyone thinks they have the solution, but solutions never solve problems, mindsets do.

We can't be, and that just takes us back to square one. No law, regulation, or tax can ever cure our society's troubles- sure, it can speed up or slow down change, but it's always up to the people what kind of world we live in.

You have to at least give them something to pay off the funeral expenses and crappy amount of debts when you die. When my mother died, she left us enough inheritance to pay off a lot of debts and her funeral expenses and then some to help us get started on our own future.

There are laws that make it mandatory that you have to give a certain percentage of your money to your children when you die and there are also laws that forbid you from giving everything to one of the children.
Now that's ********.
A person should be able to do whatever he wants with his property even if it's the last thing he/she does. Children are the most common/logical inheritors but that shouldn't be mandated by law.

The reason some people work there entire life's is to provide for their family's future. I think it's right to have inheritance

Yes and no. It's ok as far as funeral expenses and startup money...
But turning 18 and becoming some kind of multi-millionaire? Massive ********

Who said I wasn't as lucky as them?
I've refused that kind of money in the past. Money clutters your life and generally makes things more complicated then they have to be.
My point of view is one who has seen both the negatives and positives of financial excess as well as a lack thereof. Please, avoid making judgements.
You're right though, it isn't my place or anyone else's to make these decisions for another person. Forcing morality is often worse than not having a sense for it in the first place.
