i do like harry potter but if you think about it the characterization is lacking in depth completely - every character is so one-dimensional with the possible exception of harry. bearing in mind the books have transcended the childrens book tag you'd think the characters could have grown and developed over time but nope, they are completely constant. neville grows a pair of spuds and thats about it.

I thought the characters devoloped in a wonderful way. They were just kids put in terrible positions.
