At least science is still trying to explain the creation of the universe instead of settling with a big bearded man in the sky that can control everything, but still allows hate and sin to exist, created the universe.

That can be said about the multiple scientific theories of how the universe was made. The truth is that we don't know, but I would rather believe in the theories that are still expanding their knowledge and making an effort to expand their evidence than a practice that is thousands of years old that was started during times where they needed to control the ideals of the masses.

As a little kid, I was told that Santa was "magical". I of course believed at first, but once I started asking more and more questions, it became apparent that there was no proof that he really did exist, and I eventually found out I was right.

    Jimmy's status: Level 1 rustling.

I'm not gonna get mad, but this is silly, don't make ---- up. The big Bang theory says that before the big bang, all of the matter in the universe was in a super compressed point, then since so much energy was contained in such a small point, it exploded with a HUGE amount of power, and spread the matter of the universe far and wide. I don't know if there are theory's of how the matter got there, but it makes a lot more sense then any religions theory.

Also, atheism is the rejection of believing in a higher power, no where does it say all atheists believe in the big bang theory, nor evolution, atheism is simply, not believing in a higher power, nothing else.

let me go on record before i tell this story, i'm christian, i believe in a god, big whoop moving on.

so last Sunday i was sitting in sermon, the pastor talking about evolution.
not a fun topic for me, but i'll just sit in the back where i was.
pastor starts speaking about how when he was in college a college came to him and was angry that my pastor was studying physics and region.
his college said that a god could not exist in this universe, and only existed in faith.
to which my pastor replied with a question, "do you believe in the theory of the big bang?"
of course.
my pastor continued, " so you believe all that ever existed was in a single point with no dimension that simply exploded?"
yeah.
"on what premise?"
...
"faith?"
....yes.

the congregation busted into laughter, i sat there embarrassed that they actually think that the world is 6k years old.

I don't think that's right. Doesn't the big bang theory say that all matter existed at the beginning of the universe? Wasn't it just super compressed until there was so much pressure and energy that it exploded and is still expanding? It's possible i just got that from the theme song, though...

I honestly don't care what others believe, (so long as they're not ----- about it,) but the reason I am personally a Christian, and I use that term pretty loosely, is because the thought of just disappearing after death terrifies me. It's a pretty bad reason, I know, but I can't really help it.

First of all, that's a ---- understanding of the Big Bang Theory, doing it wrong.

Second of all, apparently some magical bearded space wizard we can't see suddenly made all this ---- in 6 days from nothing, probably pulling it from his ass. Then he decided it be a cool idea to create people, then kill them all, then endorse Incest, rape, and sexism. Because that's the more reasonable theory.... oh wait. Fact, because book.

---- yeah, christianity.

Strawman is attacking the weak or irrelevant parts of a theory, what you said is a horrible explanation or the big bang theory and evolution that skips over almost all of it. There's a logical fallacy name for it, but I don't remember it right now.

Strawman: Bill presents an argument about how to do their project. Jerry says "I'm not listening to you, your socks don't match."

What you said: Bill presents an argument about how to do their project. Jerry says "So I just put my name at the top and then I get an A?"
He's skipping over some very important parts of it isn't he.
