I swear, I'm going to have to make a 3D model of Pike one day, because drawing her helmet rotating kicked my sweet ass.

This place looks nice! I'll be coming back here someday soon(ish) with some good art of my own. My only issue is getting my art onto my computer since I hand-draw everything on paper.

Who here knows Unity? How much coding do you have to know to be able to use it? I'd like to eventually learn it. What I'm hoping is that it helps you on the backend, and gives you an interface to help fill in common actions for a character, such as running, jumping, etc. So instead of you hard coding it, it'll ask you things like how fast you want them to run, what's the animation for it, how long to get to top speed, etc. And then it'll do it for you.

    Is that accurate?

Unity3D isn't that hard to use but don't expect it to provide a bunch of "Fill in the box, gets a game" type of coding. You need to be able to write the script for all the action, the button and so on. It only provides you with just enough to get started, like the built-in GUI along with the size scaling or animation reel that you fill and direct as long as you are able to code how the action should work.

If you don't want to code all that ,you're gonna have to visit the store and just buy some of the scripts like 2d background with tile, side scrolling map with raycast + collision detection and so on.

Sounds like maybe Unreal is more what I'm looking for, if only a little.

UE has the blueprint coding option yeah but don't expect that to be that efficient and versatile. If you want to make a good game, you're still gonna have to learn the coding language anyway.

It really depends more on the programmer than the engine. While UE might be easier to work with if you're considering the graphic approach (because of how many good looking UE out there thank to the built-in render setting), Unity3D has way more tutorial around to get your started.

hey everybody! if any of you is looking for a monitor style drawing tablet, mono price has a pretty good deal right now for a $350 cintiq alternative, reviews are mostly great. I think i will pick this up, hopefully it's a good alt to the cintiq which is amazing to use but i just can't afford to buy one for myself.

I dunno, nothing really beats drawing directly on the canvas/screen.
You are correct about it not being entirely necessary though.

My landscapes are slowly improving. After nearly 10 years of refusing to draw as much as a background it feels weird to focus almost exclusively on scenery in a piece.

Quick drawing of an OC of mine named R G B, an energy eating multidimensional being FROM OUTER SPACE. The visible body is only a small piece of a massive lifeform, the rest of him is on the other side of a three-dimensional hole leading to a pocket dimension, through which he extrudes biomass to interact with our known reality. He's kind of like a snail, if the snail's shell was a pocket dimension.
That's really all I have about him, he's just a fun character that I like to draw from time to time.

I guess my concern is that I only have so many old things to show - like this is from 2014. But I can at least show what I have.
