I was playing Smash on the 64, Bob-ombs set to high, nothing else. I always used Pikachu. We heard rumors of "super moves" in the game (around 10 years too soon), but we couldn't pull anything off. I liked to use Pikachu's thunder, down+B when surrounded by Bob-ombs to kinda suicide-kill stuff. It worked most of the time, but one time it had a peculiar effect.
I remember it just like it was 20 years ago...
I just suicided, a crate was busted open, revealing three new Bob-ombs. Somehow, everyone was lured to them.
I used my temporarily invincibility to, you guessed it, down+B on all the Bob-ombs.
It made that sound that you hear when a big non-physical attack lands, like Samus' fully-charged shot, except it was a lot louder than usual
Everyone's damage except mine spiked to 999%, and then I heard the sound again
Over and over...
This lasted for about 60-100 seconds
We were afraid that the game got stuck, but then a CPU flew out and died
They respawned and of course messed up my masterpiece
The other two players caught in the mayhem got KO'd.
The battle resumed, but the memory of what happened never faded.
I've been trying to find some sort of explanation as to what happened, but I never could.
Needless to say, we looked a bit more into super moves, then gave up on them once again.
Anyway, I kinda suck at Smash Ultimate. I can't even get to Elite. Who wants to friend me?
