You know, that's probably a good idea. Especially since violence at protests happens, and is getting more common again, I don't know why you'd want your child to be in that situation. Regardless of your politics, what you're protesting or why, you probably shouldn't put your kids in a situation where insults, aggression, and violence are more likely to happen. I'm not going to tell somebody how to raise their kids, but it doesn't seem like a logical decision.

The media has also largely ignored the right-wing terror attacks, which are 10 times as frequent, more frequent than Islamic terror attacks and killing almost as many people (that's INCLUDING 9/11, by the way, where the Muslims terrorists killed most of their victims in America).

At least 11 people have been killed in attacks on abortion clinics in the United States since 1993, including the Colorado attack. The most recent victims were Garrett Swasey, a police officer at the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs and a part-time church pastor; Ke’Arre M. Stewart, a former Army specialist who served in Iraq; and Jennifer Markovsky, a woman from Hawaii who was at the clinic with a friend.
From 2007 to 2016, a diverse collection of extremists was responsible for the deaths of at least 372 people in the United States; 74% of these murders came at the hands of right wing extremists. These trends are accelerating, rapidly. In an eight-day period in May, for example, there was a string of violent extremist incidents that received little media attention.
May 20 – Richard Collins III, an African American and Bowie State University student, was stabbed to death by Sean Urbanski, a member of a Facebook group called the "Alt-Reich: Nation."

• May 26 – Three men in Portland tried to stop white supremacist Jeremy Christian from harassing two women who appeared to be Muslim. For their bravery, the three men were viciously attacked; two were murdered and the third was seriously injured.

• May 27 – Anthony Hammond was arrested in Clearlake, Calif. for allegedly stabbing a black man with a machete, after yelling racial slurs. While en route to the Lake County Jail, Hammond threatened to kill the transporting officer and his family once he was released. Hammond was charged with committing a hate crime, among other charges.

• May 28 – Two Native American men in Washington State were run over by a pickup truck driven by a white man shouting racial slurs and war whoops. One of the tribal members was killed and the other hospitalized.

All of these attacks were committed by extremists who appear to be inspired by a politically motivated ideology that posits racial, moral and religious superiority and demands violent action to advance it. People are dead or injured because of ideologically motivated attacks. Where is the public outrage? Where are the calls for national unity and enhanced security? Why aren’t we asking where and how these people were radicalized?

Terrorists inspired by Nationalist and Right Wing ideology have killed about 10 times as many people as Left Wing terrorists since 1992. A joint project by the Investigative Fund at the Nation Institute, a nonprofit media center, and Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting has found that within the past nine years, right-wing extremists plotted or carried out nearly twice as many terrorist attacks as Islamist extremists. Of the 115 right-wing incidents, police only foiled 35 percent. Compare this to the 63 Islamist terrorism cases, where police foiled 76 percent of the planned attacks.

Right-wing extremists were not only more successful, they were often more deadly, too. From 2008 to 2016, a third of right-wing attacks involved fatalities, compared to 13 percent of Islamist attacks. It should be noted, however, that Islamist extremists killed more people overall, with a death toll of 90 people compared to 79.

The West Point study examined acts of political violence by far right groups -- though not explicitly terrorist attacks -- from the early 1990s through 2011. It says many of these attacks can be considered terrorism.

"In the last few years, and especially since 2007, there has been a dramatic rise in the number of attacks and violent plots originating from individuals and groups who self-identify with the far-right of American politics."

The report adds the "overall trend is very clear: from the early 1990s until 2008 there has been a clear increase in the number of attacks. Fourteen of the 21 years covered in this analysis witnessed more attacks than the previous year. Although in the 1990s the average number of attacks per year was 70.1, the average number of attacks per year in the first 11 years of the twenty-first century was 307.5, a rise of more than 400%."

The report documents all types of political violence by right wing groups. The author says this includes terrorism but is not strictly limited to that type of attack. It found 43 percent of the attacks were directed against property and 42 percent against specific individuals and just 3 percent were intended to cause mass casualties.

As majordraco said, an argument is only logically fallacious if it targets anything other than the main point. Saying anything about the person making the argument (such as "you do it too"), the way the argument was made, or off the wall nonsense has no bearing on the argument itself and is a waste of energy more than anything.

For example, "it's wrong to use kids for political means." The person saying that could be teaching their kid about the 23rd gender and training them to instinctively kick cis white men in the balls, or reading them bed time stories out of Mein Kampf and telling them that black people should burn, that doesn't make them any less morally correct in that single statement. They're in the right to say it no matter what they've done, and though it would be acknowledging that they themselves are morally corrupt, the character of the individual making an argument shouldn't factor into whether it's a compelling argument or not.

Ultimately, fallacies are just a guideline; your goal in an argument is to convince someone you're right, and it doesn't matter how you do it, just that doing it like that probably wont work on anyone smarter than the average preteen.

I see more the difference between people who are passionate and have something to say, and those that just want the opportunity to yell and berate with the guise of self righteousness. Those that show courage and a will to fight for what's right, and those that just want to cause harm and start a riot. It's just a lot of undermining the other and hoping to just be on top, motivated by power and control. Like a bucket of crabs. But it always seems to come to an understanding that someboy is just going to have to be left behind. someone is going to have to draw the short straw. Instead of taking it in stride, they want to blame and cry about it. No one wants to have less. People seem so damn divided but altruisticly, they're the same **** with a different colored mask on it. It reminds me of the Star Bellied Sneeches, and the only one really to benefit was the guy with the machine. Obviously things aren't that simple, but what's the sense in debating the values of life if no one is willing to sacrafice their place in the dirt. I hate the liberals that cry and feel entitled to **** and I hate the conservatives that feel like their **** stinks less than anyone elses. And all it had done is just have me angry and hating things. What do you do with that? Fight your neighbor or start a commrodery of circle jerking about "the good ol' days". Just wait until the next global disaster or natural catastrophe to get people to give a **** I guess. Even then it's like people have to just do whatever makes their **** shinier in the eyes of "public opinion". Making martyrs of themselves without having to actually give anything away that they don't really value in the first place. Me? I've done nothing. I'm poor, but I'm not on welfare. I work, I make a living. I just live inside of this bubike and hope it doesn't pop, just do the bare minimum to ensure I live a happy life and I'm healthy and I don't die. As anyone would. Have a white picket fence and a house and a wife and a dog, but we need a whole building full of puffed up dusty bags to make sure someone else doesn't try to blow it up or take away your right to eat bread and earn it. Why the **** do people even have that concern anyway? Because of othe people who just want the same thing? It just all seems to me that this is a big ass carnival, nothing is designed for everyone to have it all, you're no supposed to, designed for people to step on others to get a better view of the neighbors yard. What do you do with that? Fight your neighbor or start a comradery of circle jerking about "the good ol' days". Just wait until the next global disaster or natural catastrophe to get people to give a **** I guess. Even then it's like people have to just do whatever makes their **** shinier in the eyes of "public opinion". Making martyrs of themselves without having to actually give anything away that they don't really value in the first place.

Me? I've done nothing. I'm poor, but I'm not on welfare. I work, I make a living. I just live inside of this bubble and hope it doesn't pop, just do the bare minimum to ensure I live a happy life and I'm healthy and I don't die. As anyone would. Have a white picket fence and a house and a wife and a dog, but we need a whole building full of puffed up dusty bags to make sure someone else doesn't try to blow it up or take away your right to eat bread and earn it. Why the **** do people even have that concern anyway? Because of other people who just want the same thing?

It just all seems to me that this is a big ass carnival, nothing is designed for everyone to have it all, you're no supposed to, designed for people to step on others to get a better view of the neighbors yard. But what's better than being able to?

I do a lot of counter posting on this site when it comes to politics, usually from the side of the more left. I've said it before, but I don't hate anyone here for what they believe. Sometimes pity, but usually I at least understand why they think the way they do.

And despite constantly seeing Holocaust deniers and legitimate racists and people who have truly despicable ideologies, the world is good. Humans are, on the whole, a good people. Most of us are just like you - we work, we live, we just want to be happy with a small house, good health, family and friends to laugh and love with. And that's what most people are.

Crime has consistently fallen, hate between each other and "groups" may be more exposed due to things like media coverage - but it's lower than it's ever been before. More countries are become more stable. We're learning to control our consumption to save for the future, we've got workers rights and proper healthcare (in most of the western world). And every day we make huge steps forward in our knowledge that will help fight off diseases, bring education and food all around the world. Corruption is being exposed, slowly but surely.

There is still suffering - there will always be suffering. There are bad people - there will always be bad people. But the vast majority of the world is quiet and good. It only gets better. Just turn off your computer, turn off the TV - because you're just getting a constant feed of the most vitriolic **** imaginable. Especially online - where people have no fear of exposure and consequence.

I'm sorry you feel that way, friend. I'm sorry. And good luck - I hope you find some peace.
