Lets talk about these two for a second. Hulking and Wiccan (or Theodore Teddy Altman, and Robert Billy Kaplan), are two of the young avengers, who were introduced alongside the rest in the early two thousands. And they're gay, but it has never been a central plot point, and it has never impacted the story beyond the two of them doing what any girlfriend boyfriend superhero pair does. They're just two dudes who love each other, and marvel has made more than a few jokes about it. This is what marvel needs more of, they don't need to pander to be visible, and they don't need to mention a character's gayness every 3 seconds.
They just need to be there. Marvel just needs to have characters that are gay, or muslim, or any other visible minority whose struggle you cannot necessarily identify with, they don't need to make unrelated runs political, they just need characters who are part of the minority they represent. Kamala Khan for instance, has been quite well done in this area, she just is muslim, her parents use muslim pet names for her, and she calls her father and mother the muslim equivalents of mom and dad. She is just a new character who happens to be muslim, just like miles morales is a new character that happens to be black and latino.
It doesn't need to be about identity politics, and there is never a requirement for the gay characters to go after homophobes, or the black characters to go after the kkk. But there is nothing wrong with having characters that fit minorities, so long as the stories are well written and drawn, I could give less than a **** about the colour of their skin, or what their Eharmony profile says they're into.
TLDR: Marvel did diversity right when these two were introduced, and they should move back to that.
