wild hog are VERY VERY smart. While they are strong and resistant, they know very well what danger a human is and are super-cautious.
Source: I'm a hunter and wild hog is probably the smartest creature in the woods (save for some large birds).

If they're native to an area then perhaps it was mans killing of their predators of the area that started the problem? Introducing a viable population of predators will help perminantly stabalise everything, that's how nature works.
I'm not saying they don't have to be thinned, I'm saying it's dumb to hate animals for just being animals.

Holy **** WOW. Straight off I can tell how little you know about wolves, let alone how ecosystems work.

#1 Wolves have NO natural predators anywhere in the world (only competitors).
#2 Apex predators are limited by their avilable prey to sustain their population. Meaning if there's not enough prey, they can't magically outbreed them. Prey in a healthy ecosystem will always out number predators.

I'll simplify an example of why having wolves is actually a good thing:
    >Yellowstone park has no wolves due to overhunting 1926.
    >Deer population exploads due to the lack of predators.
    >Deer eat overgraze on young shrubs and trees, causing forests to shrink as old trees die.
    >Coyote populations expload due to lack of wolf predators.
    >Coyotes over consume beavers, small rodents, hares, etc and displace foxes.
    >Less trees to hold in water and less beavers creating damns causes massive flooding throughout the park.
    >Less prey for birds of prey makes most of the eagles leave the park.
    >Wolves reintroduced in 1995, ABOUT 70 YEARS OF TROPHIC DISASTER.
    >Deer populations stabalise, deer become more widespread allowing the forests to regenrate.
    >Coyote populations stabalise, allowing a whole host of smaller species back.
    >Forests and damns mean a lot less flooding, the number of song birds recover, the eagles, hawks etc.
    >Wolf kills are scavanged by bears, eagles and alot of other animals allowing their populations to stabalise also.
Now at present day the park is better than ever, and we have wolves and the people who kepr pushing to bring them back to thank for that.

The pigs wont just dissapear comepletely after stabalising... They will also feed on other native wildlife where possible such as hare and deer.
If proper precautions are agreed upon by local govournment and farmers then it actually very easy.
Wolves are naturally scared of humans and will try to stay away from settlements unless food is hard to come by.
In Italy they are currently reinbursing farmers for every animal killed by wolves as they value their ecosystems health greatly.
In conclusion, if you put the proper deterrants at farms to keep wolves away and keep the ecosystem sustainable the wolves will have little reason to come into close proximity to man. Of course it's not flawless and they odd sheep and cow will be taken but thats a small price to pay in the grand scheme.

I mean I get your point, but I don't think a britbong is entitled to comment on these things as you've killed of anything remotely related to wildlife on your isle and get your information from Animal Planet. Wolves are a danger to man, even more so when there's a shortage of prey. We simply can't have the required number of wolves roaming around to keep the boars checked while still feeling safe when walking outdoor. Yes, it'll work in certain areas with low human population such as national parks, but it wouldn't work anywhere outside of those parks. We can't have wolves & man in the same area.

The solution, put simply, is that man needs to shoulder the role of the outcompeted wolf and kill the boars of to the same extent as the wolves once did.

I can see why you'd think I shouldn't comment, but Britiain is a nation of nature lovers and there are literally over a million of us fighting to get wolves, lynx and even bears back into our forests, myself included.
Man and wolves live along side all around the world... What are you talking about?
Especially in the USA, Canada, Russian, have you even bothered to look any of this up?
Here's a video of an admittedly extreme case in the middle of nowhere of wolf/human interraction in the wild. But remember this is a species that can collectivley take down a polar bear but is still being cautious around humans. Living Among Wolves Snow Wolf Family And Me BBC

Don't get me started on those ************* hogs. Here in Texas, in most counties, hogs are considered a pest/vermin, meaning that you don't even need a hunting license to take as many hogs as you want. And if you do get a license for any time of the year, it'll tell you that you can take as many hogs on it as you want

Wild hog meat requires ageing. It adds character to the meat. The connective tissue breaks down.

Besides that, you need to know how to prepare it. Wild hog goes great in a stew

Earthy flavors are often related to autumn. As a cook I love autumn as a culinary season, but it does require skill. Earthy flavors are heavy and strong, think beets, lentils or certain mushrooms (including truffel). I know not everybody is found of beets, but as I said, skill is important. My finest vegetable preparation is very earthy, I wrap the beets in a salt crust with rozemary and tyme and cook them in the oven for at least an hour. Slice em up and sprinkle a light and fresh dressing to balance it out.

For game its the same thing, you need to balance out the strong flavor.
But its not possible to give you a clear definition/description for game and how to cook it, because game is an umbrella term. Salmon and tuna are both fish. Game is broader, because it includes mammals and birds.

And even in the same species, there are differences. Mass product McD burgers all taste the same, because the cows are raised on the same food, got the same ammount or lack of movement and got slaughtered at the same age.
Game has character, the older the animal, the stronger the taste, and depending on where they lived, the food that is available to them in their life, the taste varies.
Even the cause of death can give subtile differences. A deer that has been quickscoped by supprise has a better taste than a deer that has been hunted down and ran for his life.

And you also run into problems with diseases, since a lot of hogs eat whatever they can get. I've seen them eating road kill and trash.

The meat is tougher when hunted, the pigs are not fed as they would in farms so the muscles are stronger in the wild ones. Tastes about the same, of course depending on who prepares it, and disregarding the tenderness of the meat.

Not only is overpopulation an issue, they cause massive property damage via digging for food and eating crops and are also incredibly protective of their young and can and will **** people up just for being in it's sights.

They **** like rabbits, eat like locusts, charge like rhino's and are angrier than BLM after a cop kills a ******.

Their only redeeming quality is that they taste ok
Aside from that, kill them all
