Not a Slave

Not a Slave
2019-10-03

She sits across from me. The one thing than actually means anything to me. The
Cat Companion I bought all those years ago. My slave.

Her tail flicks back and forth, her question not answerd. I have always
thought it wrong to take advantage of her, but this question, this statment from
her is wrecking me.

I finally open my mouth saying what has grinding on my insides for the past
few years, "I can't... It would be wrong."

"Why?" she says with sadness in her voice "Don't you love me?"

"I do, it's just that... How... we can't, it's like me taking advantage of
you... You are my property... I don't know." I lean forward over the table
putting my forehead against the table "I don't think it's right of me."

She looks up at the lamp over the table "I don't care if it's right or wrong,
I love you. I think that that is what's most important." she looks down at me
"You know I don't live as long as you, I just want to feel that kind of love
before my time is up." she sniffles again, her tears gone dry.

I'm silent. My heart hurts, I'm lost.

She stand up walking over to me and puts her hand on my head, putting her
fingers through my hair. "What do you want with me? I barely do any house work,
I spend my time doing this-and-that around here, but you always insist that you
should do part of the work... When we have free time together you used to be so
affectionate towards me, but as of late... I don't know... you keep your
distance." she pulls her hand away "I wanted us to talk about this."

I know she is right, I have been keeping my distance. I didn't want to fall
further. "I do love you." I finally say after a few moments "But... I feel like
it would be taking advantage of you."

She looks down, and nods a few times, before standing straight and turning
around and walking towards her room.

My heart is aching.

I stay at the table, still face down into it. I thought I had my feelings in
check. I truly did. But now? Her confession opened up that wound in my heart.

I want to scream. I hate myself, I hate that I have these contradictions in
me.

My personal favorite trope is when the ending ties directly back to the beginning in a meaningful way.

Kobold Companion

Kobold Companion

I've been adventuring for months with this group: There is the Rough that has
calmed down after he caused one of his friends death; We have the warrior that
has had a bit too many bashes to the head; The Cleric that does not know what
her deity actually wants her do to; the Caster with his Kobold companion; and
me the Bard with too few strings on his lute.

When ever we rested at the end of the day the Caster and his companion always
retreated to the tent they shared, always saying they were tired and needed
the rest. When ever it was their time to take watch, they did it together, they
seldom were separated. The Caster even paid extra to not have to share a room
with the rest of us.

But one wrong move can destroy everything.

Now the caster is apathetic, he does not seem to care for his self-
preservation. It is a stark contrast to when she was still alive.

I still remember the day it happened, and it was just such a stupid mistake
but he just can't stop blaming himself.

He was always cheerful, the light of the party, he even remained optimistic
when we lost our archer. But loosing his pet... That broke him.

The cleric asked him if why he was so upset with loosing just a kobold. That
was a mistake on the Cleric's part. If we had not restrained him we would have
lost the Cleric. This is very out of character for him, as he and the Cleric
were those who had been together the longest in the group.

"Just a Kobold!?" he kept asking, followed by a select few words in a few
languages. I've never seen him so angry.

The caster... The caster he has starting to speak to himself in his tent. My
draconic is not that great, but it's as if he's talking to the Kobold... The
dead Kobold.

I'm worried. I think our caster is going down a dark path.

Today the caster up and left in the middle of the night, and only came back
in the morning. He did not seem tired, rather the opposite.

He seems to have lightened up a bit, but I still hear him talk in draconic
to himself at times.

Perhaps he found some peace of mind?

Anyway, Bacon and eggs for breakfast was great, and we are to meet a potential
client today to...

... cave spiders is the least of our problems. I heard the caster talking
to himself again. From what I know of Draconic he seems to speak of 'giving back
home to wife' or something? I think I know what he's been up to, but what should
I do? I think he's trying to make a deal with one of the dragon gods. This ain't
good.

I'll tell the Cleric tomorrow, and see what we can do to stop him.

Anyway, I have made a new composition, that I hope will awe the public in the
next town over...

I'm the only one left.

He ******* killed them. He ******* murdered everyone.

Gods help me.

I keep hearing whispers in draconic. They speak of salvation? Death? I don't
know. It's just a mess of words, some words sound like ancient book draconic.
Not anything spoken in centuries. I don't understand. I don't understand these
words.

literary Content?

Hey! My name is darkkiddd here on FJ, but I would really rather go by Azul. None of you should really know me, but i've been lurking for a couple of years. During that time I've always wanted to try and contribute content but, I didn't know how well received it would be.
I guess this is me trying to gauge the general reaction to the idea. My passions are writing, literature, and story telling. I write my own original stories and I am currently taking English degree classes looking for my English doctorate. My goal is to write books professionally.
I want to post literary reviews and maybe build up a book community here on FJ. I also drop my own original stories on Wattpad from time to time and if there are any interests in seeing them Id love to link to them.
All in all, this is me sort of testing the waters and seeing what people here think about books, book reviews, and original writing content.

"GO DEEPER, I WANT TO SEE WHAT IS DOWN THERE!" The man in the suit screamed at
me, I was holding the controls of the digging machine.

"Sir, if we go deeper we will punch though to the pocket" I pointed at one of
the displays showing the seismological imaging and an overlay with the machines
current possession.

"I ain't paying you to think" he said into my ear.

"but sir..."

"No buts, just do it"

We did not know what to expect when we came to this planet, there seems to have
been life here once, but it was a long time ago. The planet does not seem to
have the wast quantity of gas or coal so the "pocket" can not be a gas pocket in
the crust, it is perfectly spherical and does not reverberate as it should...
what ever that means...

I pushed the controls forward, only a few meters new. I was fearing lose rocks
and instability in the geology... how wrong I was..

There was a rattle, the warning lights started blinking, the machine put itself
in auto shut down mode.

"****!" I stood up and ran to the other terminal to see what was wrong, it was
the same error there as on the other screen.

"WHAT NOW?" The suited man yelled at me.

"I do not know sir, it seems to be the teeth... the hyperdiamond teeth" I looked
up from the console "they are gone".

"Are you ******** me?" he looked over my shoulder.

"see sir, they are gone, there is nothing there"

"I did not spend all of my funds on this mission just so some teeth would go be
damaged" He grabbed the back of the chair, he sighed

"looks like we need to get stronger teeth"

"Sir, these were hyperdimond, there is nothing stronger known in human space"

"Back this thing up and go up to the surface, we must replace them"

"This is a Worm sir, we can not back it up, it is impossible"

"are we stuck down here?"

"no.. no we are not" I did barely convince my self, "I will go with one of the
spide... one other crew members and have a look at it."

I stuck my hand though one of the holes of the front grinder to see if I could
feel the teeth. what I felt, though my tactile space gloves was metal where
there should have been rock.

"Lets open this thing up" I said. The others drew there monofilament knifes and
started chopping out a part of the front grinder.

When the the others were done I took a step though the hole looking around, it
was what looked like a black surface in front of me, barely any light was
reflected, it was like searing in to the void.

I asked for one of the knifes, it crawled up to me so I could pick it up. I
tried shoving it into the material, I wanted a sample to see what we were
dealing with, I saw the blade enter the wall, but when I drew it out the
filament was gone.

"The other crew members seem to be uneasy, it is as if they are scared" I sighed
to the suited man.

"Do not worry, it is fine"

If it now was fine... he knew, the other chew members knew, I did not... I did
not know what it was. The suited man wanted it, the spid... other crew members
feared it, and I knew nothing.

If I had known I would have staid down there, not entering it, not assisting in
its retrieval. The monster, that ******* thing! buried for a million years, ****
the suit, he thought he could tame it to defeat the Green Plague, oh how wrong
he was...

[Story] What are you gonna' do?

What are you gonna' do?

"Missis R... You should go to the police." The boy said as he pulled up his
trousers "What I did... I raped you..."

The woman picked up her panties from the floor and looked at her student with
With a blank expression. Her hands were still trembling as she pulled them up
over her legs.

"I am... I should not have come here" The boy continued.

"I did not like what you did... but..." she picked up a tie from the floor and
handed it to her student. "Why don't we just forget about this?"

"Why?" The boy went down on his knees in front of his teacher "Why are you so
kind to me?" Tears were flowing down his face "Even after I did all those cruel
things to you... Why?"

She did not answer directly instead she put her hand on his head, and held it
there for a moment. "You know how old I am?"

The boy looked up "No..."

"I am twenty-nine, I have lived twice your age." she moved from the bed and
onto the floor and embraced him. "When I was your age I fell in love with my
teacher. He did not reciprocate, I pushed and pushed until he snapped."

Missis R was crying into her students shirt, he was still, just listening.

She continued "I attacked him and he did not put up a struggle, he did not
touch me at all as I had my way with him." Missis R sighed "He went insane, he
started drinking, his wife left him, he got fired... I drove him to suicide..."

The boy pushed himself away from his teacher "Why are you telling me this?"

"I know what it is like to someone that you can't have, I am not a good
person. Perhaps this is repentance for my own sin?"

"I should be going now... I... I am sorry for what I did."

"Don't forget the assignment that is to be handed in tomorrow."

"I won't, Missis R." The boy stood up and patted down his shirt and
straightened his tie. Before opening the door to the room.

He went down the small corridor into the livingroom area he was frozen by
what he saw

"Hello, ya' little runt." it was Mister R, sitting at the table with his phone
in one hand slowly scrolling what ever content was on it. He was smiling
"Don't ya' worry, I ain't gonna' beat ya' up. But what're ya' thinking shaggin'
my wife?"

"I am sorry, I have to go" The boy bolted for the door.

"I am not mad! I am happy! That bitch, I can't even touch her without wanting
to kill her, for what she did!" Mister R was screaming out the door after the
boy "She did in my brother!"

"Have I paid my dues yet?" Missis R stood behind her husband.

"Ya' love 'im? Go after 'im, I will contact the solicitor so you can be quit
this... You have paid your dues. I never want to see you here ever again."
Mister R walked back to the table he was sitting at a few minutes ago at.

Missis R walked back to the room she was raped in, pulled out a rucksack from
the closest, it was already packed. She proceeded to pack what she could down
into plastic shopping two bags. She looked through her handbag "Phone, wallet,
lipstick... Keys..." She pulled the keys out of her back and threw them onto the
bed.

She looked around the room once more before picking up all could could carry.
As she made her way through the livingroom her husband spoke "Is it true?"

Missis R halted and looked at him.

"That you loved him? I thought you were a bitch, but you were just a *******
Psychopath... Did you ever love me?"

"I wanted to pay my dues."

"Go to hell."

[Story] The Trail of the Hero

The Trail of the Hero
2019-10-29

The Insectoid general looked down on planet his and his allies just took. It
marked the last remnants of what was once his empire. The thought still makes
him feel strange. He dragged his race out of that Empire to save it from itself.

The Humans had provided an alternative. An alternative that did not make his
race just slaves to the ruling races.

The human Al-Brig'her walked up to him looking out of the window "We did it,
K'fe'al. We bloody well did it, friend."

The Insectoid nodded, "Yes. But now we have to build... The ones that are left
have to rebuild, put the Priests and Leaders on trail."

There was silence between them for a moment, Al-Brig'her's shoulders sagged
"You still... He swallowed, I mean, it's been years, and you did save humanity."

"It has to be done. We need to build a bridge, and me being exempt form the
process would not... what do you say?" he tapped his forehead "... ah... it
would not look good."

The human put his hand on the glass window, leaning against it until his
forehead touched it.

The Insectoid made a sound, like sand through a pipe, "Al-Brig'her, I know
this is hard for you, considering what we've been though together. But I did
turn five human colonies into glass. It can't go unpunished."

"Why not? Without you we would have been slaughtered, we would be extinct."

"It was your idea all that time ago. I get the help I need to free my people,
you put me on trail."

"That was years ago."

"If our peoples are to trust each other-"

"I protest!" The human snapped around "How would it look if the hero who saved
your race gets put on trail!? They would not stand for it!"

"They would 'stand for it', I assure you. Humans are so tribalistic, you would
not understand." The Insectoid turned around and started walking towards the
door.

"Why the trail? You will not be charged anyway."

"It's symbolic. Some... what do you say? ah. Some modus of justice for those I
killed."

Al-Brig'her walked after him "What about me? I have ordered the killing of
your kind too. I'm as guilty as you."

K'fe'al looked down at the human "You never ordered attacks civilian
settlements. You even sent warnings to factories before you blew them up. What I
did was... 'barbaric' I think the word is... while what you did was relatively
civilised."

Silence.

The door to the lift closed with a low buzz. The observation deck was silent
and the lights turned off.

[Story] Blood Debt and Recruit.

One more of my past writings.

*Blood Debt*

"Dad..." The young woman said, stroking the cheek of the old man in the bed
with her scaled hand. "Why did you save me?"

The old man opened his icy blue eyes and looked into the red-orange eyes of
the person he called his daughter.

"Blood debt... I killed your whole family... they were all so brave, and I
was but a coward with my machine gun..."

"But you saved me. You brought me up as one of your own."

"When I saw you, you reminded me of the family I had lost during the initial
invasion... Who would have thought that humanity would have to face of with
creatures from another world?"

"Do you which it had never happened? I know that I sometimes do, I am not
human, but I am more human -- inside -- than I am my own species." The woman put
her hand to her chest, "Even thought my hart is not in my chest I do these
gestures..."

"I would never have met you... I would never have seen you grow into what you
are now if it were not for the invasion..." The man lifted his hand and put it
on the woman’s face "Remember, my daughter; be brave, always brave."

The man's hand fell down on the bed, and his breathing ceased. It was time
for the woman to go, to leave this house she had spent forty years in.

She picked up the backpack she had packed and put it on her back, making sure
she had her machete on her belt. She took a petrol can filled with ethanol and
poured it on the dead man and around the room and out the front door.

The newspaper with the words "Earth Invaded" in big black letters on she had
read a thousand times, she crumpled together and lit with the lighter she had
gotten for hear twentieth "birthday" some thirty years ago. It must have been
hard for him, she contemplated, seeing as her species had longer life cycles
than humans, she was but a child at the time.

As she dropped the burning paper on the pool of ethanol snow started to fall
around her. She had known it would come, and that she had to hurry into town
and find shelter for the winter.

As she watched the fire consume everything she had known, she starter reciting
the text she had read hundreds of times about how dying stars created new
forms of matter, and she thanked those dead stars for her life here.

She stood watching the fire for a quarter of an hour, as snow made the ground
white, before she started to walk down the path, the path that lead to town, a
place that her father had said was dangerous for her. But now she had no choice.

She had to face those fears, and be brave among the humans, and no matter
what not let their hate make her into the monster they might see her as.

Compassion is her blood debt to this world.

You like hearing stories made by people? then i feel like you'll LOVE Tale Foundry, i found it a while ago and while i'm not exactly the biggest reader, I fell in love with the channel, but now it's in a spot of trouble and could use your help
