Thats if you kill them...
However if you avoid them and somehow out run them than you are more likely to level up with just the locations you find on the way to freeside

You can make it through the yellow path. It will take a few tries to get past the cazadors but it can be done.

If you're careful, you can gimmick the landscape to evade the Radscorpions and Deathclaws. Lets you cut directly to New Vegas.

The first time i played New Vegas, i played on Hardcore mode because i wanted to see what was new about it and instead of following the path around and through Novac and etc, i ended up cutting straight through the Deathclaws at the mining area because my buddy said the guy I'm looking for is at New Vegas and told me that was the quickest way there, so i just did that and didn't even bother looking for an alternate path. Man i was like level 4 or 5 and i was running and fighting for my life against all these deathclaws, **** was terrifying. I made it though. I made it and i killed the **** out of Benny.

ahh you followed that road.
i went to the one a bit further north of town.with all the dont enter sighns
because truethfully once you where passed the death claws and cassadores
you had almost nothing to worry about for getin to new vegas yea you had to run aorund that thing and maybe doge a few feinds but then your home free.

I would call this the "ooo shiny" effect since there are a lot of straight lines. At some points you can see the player going through a path then getting distracted by something that caught his attention then following it in a straight line
