He actually can't. This is coming from an Aquaman fan. If they're in the water for whatever reason, he has an edge. However take that away and Superman's speed alone is enough to beat Aquaman with a blitz. Aquaman has show to be able to hurt Superman, but that was because he caught him off guard.

This of course isn't taking in account Aquaman's trident or if he has his magic water hand doo dad. Superman just has too much he can do against Aquaman. He summons a tidal wave, Clark freezes it. Arthur uses his magic, Clark stays at a distance with his heat vision. Fist on fist? Arthur's strength doesn't even compare to Clark's.

agreed. it also doesnt make sense that the same people who talk about how aquaman is the strongest of all always throw a hissy fit when people talk about superman or flash being the strongest of all dc earth heroes and call them ****** characters because of it. double standards much?

wonderwoman is just a shy bit weaker than superman and martian. she is after all: a demigod made out of clay.

the best instance to show how strong she is would be when she fought superman evenly while travelling from earth to the sun, and then getting knocked back to earth by superman and living to tell the tale. all of this btw took place in less than 3 minutes.

green lanterns themselves are pretty policing the entire universe, and nothing sort of an eldrich abomination or an actual space conquerror like mongul ever warrants more than one of them to be in a single galaxy since thats all they really need to keep the galaxy safe. nothing sort of darkseid is enough to actually fight off the lantern corps, and darkseid is kept in check by the new gods.

then there are various superheroes like superman,adam strange and such who also take it up with themselves to hold the universe in order.

imo if you want to see ****** up **** in dc. you should look at the magical community. the only few reasons they haventh either destroyed dc earth or conquerrored it is because of fear of god and selfishness.

the reason this started i would fathom is because of wide abundance of jokes made at aquamans expense due to his horrific showings in shows like super friends,jlaa and the comic book runs which just made him look like an utter joke. people who liked the character started to stand up for him (me included) which included showing his better side and skills.

ofcourse as you can see people in here dont exactly follow comic books or even like them. so they are completely cluesless on the power ladder in place or anything else really, so when they see comic book fans praising aquaman they jump on the bandwagon and now we have the bandwagon that claims aquaman is the strongest and greatest of all time.

its really annoying in my opinion..its why i try to stay away from discussing comic book characters unless its with another known fan like comicexplain or something.

That's not how team work goes.

It doesn't matter if one or more members can do the same thing. The purpose of team work is to pool together resources. Robin is basically Batman but weaker and less experienced. Yet, he always finds a reason to get another one every time they leave.

MM is basically a Superman palette swap with some exceptions but you haven't made any comparisons between them. They're either on the same level or one of them is more powerful overall. The argument folds in on itself.

If strength was solely the utility of the JL, then there'd be no need for Batman. Every hero has resources, no matter how much they overlap or exceed. Combing them is the point of being a team in the first place.

Yes, my arguments make sense.

Aquaman on some level is less intelligent, more powerful version of Batman. He's got tactical prowess, leadership abilities due to being accustomed to taking part in the upper echelons of society, wealth, and resources that can be harvested as tools for victory, particularly against Kryptonians.

The same simplification argument you're using for MM works for AM. SM and MM are similar but have attributes unique to them. That doesn't make either or useless or redundant.

You're not even trying to sound intelligent anymore.

no he really isnt. he is nowhere near as smart as batman,nor is he as good commander nor leader. and he really doesnt have anything special againts kryptonians outside of some weaksauce magic (superman can go up againts shazam.) and maybe few shards of kryptonite. his wealth on the other hand adds nothing since its a currency not recognized anywhere outside of atlantis. again this part was also explained.

i have also explained this one as well. but since reading and thinking isnt your strong point i will repeat: mm is needed because he is a top card player. aquaman isnt a top card. in combat he is horridly outgunned by everybody the jla fights and is pretty much useless in that field, and in terms of scientific work/tactics/leadership they already have batman, who yet again is ******** better leader than aqua is.

SM isn't as fast as Flash. WW isn't as strong as Supes. Green Lantern isn't as green as Green Arrow, or Batman more importantly.

Batman's not the only one on the team that's super rich or super smart. He may be one of the highest ranked in either category but that doesn't undermine the utility of those inferior to him, even if by a small margin. This goes back to the Batman/Robin argument.

Atlantis currency can be used to purchase goods sold underwater, or converted to land money if its recognized as an independent nation. Also, there's rare material underwater worth muchos dineros up top.

Magic or Kryptonite no matter how strong can harm kryptonians.

Being lesser tiered in some areas doesn't make one useless. You can carry multiple guns of different power. The more, the merrier.

By the way, AM is one of the better fighters in the League. Much better than Superman or MM, who's primary means of melee combat amount to punching and throwing really hard. He's most likely received training, which is something a lot of Leaguers lack or don't use when they exclusively rely on their powers even sometimes more so than their minds.

We can go at this all day, but this isn't an argument you can win.

If you find Wild Cat useful, you're contradicting yourself. Batman's got a much wider resume of martial arts than him. By your logic, since he's redundant and inferior, he's lower tiered and therefore useless.

By the way, in hand-to-hand, Superman rarely does anything that doesn't emphasize his strength. Martial-Arts places emphasis on form and technique. Superman's only good at punching and he's not even the best at that. Torquasm-Rao is just a series of poses that gives him energy and helps him concentrate. Torquasm-Vo is an elevated mental state that allow mind battles. Neither one of these martial-arts add to his knowledge of how to hurt people with his body.

It also doesn't make sense to bring up martial-arts only to call it useless by exemplifying a very narrow series of possibilities that ignores context and situation.
You just defeated the purpose of adding to SM's fighting prowess. And by the way, the Leaguers don't always fight super strong or super fast people. Prometheus should come to mind.

Superman going against Black Adam doesn't mean much if he's not constantly taking blows from his lightning. Superman's super durable but not immune to the effects of magic. Magical elements won't do double damage but they'll hurt him. A sharp magical object will however pierce him like it would a normal man. Even a micrometer of kryptonite can give him krptonite poisoning, which happened in a New-52 story where an alternate universe version of Atom shrunk small enough to place a fragment into a brain cell or something. And in a He-Man cross over, a regular magical sword killed him. Aquaman's trident is magic but it could do Superman.

Nothing says Atlantis can't or won't ever be recognized by the the surface.

The implication was that any gun can kill any man. Having more of the same or even a weaker one can save somebody if they can't use another. Your lack of understanding for that metaphor directly relates to your inferior reasoning.

In a poetic sense, you can't bring anything useful to this discussion because of your lack of wits. You acknowledge

A team is a group effort. It's not simply about having fleets of really good guys. Superman, Batman, etc can't be everywhere at once nor are they all powerful. A great team covers each others weaknesses. What do you do when some kryptonite immobilizes Supes or some fire stuns MM? You call Shazam. What do you do when you need a sneak attack that Batman can't deliver? You call Aquaman. It's been said that enemies tend to underestimate Aquaman and that's part of what leads to their defeat.

I'm telling you right now: There's nothing you can say that I can't counter. I'm not psychic but the foundation of all of your arguments are flawed. If you fail to realize this, you've shown further proof that your reasoning here is little to non-existent. Knowing this, you're still going to reply, either insulting my intelligence in a manner similar to what I just said, and/or saying something that will easily be disproved in the following comment. In some iterations, Wild Cat is part of a team. Martial-arts is his only method of combat. He's still relevant to the discussion by virtue of him contributing an asset.

There's no way you could discern that I didn't read your comments if I brought up Wild Cat, who you brought into the discussion.

Ad hominen: attacking the person as opposed to the argument. Although, that wouldn't be wrong if it strengthened a point relevant to discussion.

Martial-arts was only brought up to supplement the fact that exceeding one another doesn't make any member of the team useless or redundant. That was self-evident.

I brought up Prometheus less because of his direct interaction with Aquaman and more as a means to give validity to martial-arts and tactics.

This isn't a Superman vs Aquaman debate. You're the one that keeps offering reasons why his trident wouldn't kill Superman. Also, consider that Supes coming into contact with his weaknesses is less about how strong or fast he is and more about being caught off guard.

Your flintlock comparison folds in on itself. There's a possibility that you can run out of ammo for it and taking out another gun would be much quicker. And you purposely used two examples, one of the best vs one of the worse, to highlight your point. That's a false dichotomy. Even in that case, you're assuming that a musket would fail in every scenario, which is unfounded. If used creatively, it can work, as with anything.

You're fooling yourself if you think you defeated my arguments. But since you seem so sure of yourself, surely you won't mind doing it in a simplified list form that allows my inferior intellect to process.

Except he is strongest in the ocean. No major league hero has that kind of limitation.

"Darkseid you dumb ****! Come fight me in the ocean if you really think you're tough!" only works five or six times before Darkseid starts his rain of laser-death from orbit and does NOT touchdown.

Story wise, he is also excessively niche; Batman is 'Man triumphs over evil through cleverness', Superman is "America is NOT a bully and if you say we are I will punch unconscious.", Wonder Woman is "Honor. Strength. Ovaries. Justice.". The **** is Aqua-man? "I like sea-Turtles." isn't something you can really get behind.

Alright. Lets put the water aside.

What does Aquaman stand for? What does he represent in a story? How does he influence a plot in a useful way.

What is his role other than "guy who is always second best at everything relevant"? He only has half of most packages: Superman strength/endurance, but no flight or Speed so he lacks mobility (especially offworld). Batman tech without Batman's genius/planning/paranoia, so he doesn't have kyrptonite stashed up his ass..

Even assuming each of his abilities are as powerful as the best the first-string team has to offer, the only person he can really replace is Superman as the main Tank/DPS, assuming someone tosses him at the enemy every now and again.

I haven't read every Aqauman story, nor do I know how much you've read, but I've read some. If you did too and activated your critical thinking powers, you would sea that there's themes of identity, destiny, responsibility, family, etc. He's from the only DC character to hold these traits. He's far from the only character to hold these traits. However, the fact that they overlap so much goes to show that your initial argument that he doesn't bring anything new to the table or anything at all folds in on itself.
As in life, multiple people share similarities. Some exceed others, yes. But life isn't so simple that somebody else is objectively better because they have similar qualities but in excess, nor does that negate the utility of another person. Batman's strong, but nearly every other Leaguer out matches him. Superman's fast, but the Flash is faster. Wonder Woman can deflect bullets with her wrist bands, but Power Girl can deflect bullets with her boobs.

I'll say it again to drive this point home. Team work isn't about bringing something new to the table. It's about combing your strengths however small or redundant they are. It is defined by both quality and quantity. There's not such thing as a redundant person. There's no such thing as a redundant character. Even twins have things that separate themselves from one another. By virtue of them not occupying the same conscious, they are different.

People aren't so simple that they can be totally replaced by others, and the same goes for characters.

By the way, I've only ever read like two New-52 Aquaman stories and seen him in in the JLA and YJ cartoons and his sole animated movie thus far. There's a lot more to his character than I know but it's possible to surmise a decent amount him just by looking at a few of the stories he is featured in.

When you can see him, Batman isn't really that scary. He's a lot scarier when you're out doing a crime and you glimpse this... person or something in the shadows, but there's something off about his silhouette, and then he basically disappears and starts thumping the **** out of all your friends without being seen or saying a word.

Even then, his costume isn´t that scary. If you barely see him, the only thing you can make out is his cape. Could be everyone at at that point. Could be Batman, could be Red Tornado, could be Superman.

Yet again you could say the same again. Take the scene from The Dark Knight, for example, the one at the docks. What´s scarier? The scene it played out, with Batman taking out the guys without being scene? Or, imagine it with Aquaman. You´re doing criminal stuff at the docks and at once, your comrades start flying around and all you can see is a trident glimmering in the dark...you turn around thinking that maybe you can flee by jumping into the water, but no...the docks are filled with ******* sharks.

Or, you know. You do criminal stuff at the docks and suddenly an army walks out from the water, led by a king in golden chainmal...

Every super hero can be ******* scary given the right circumstances, but everytime I see people hating on Aquaman and hyping Batman, I just wonder why they don´t think about seeing both of them side by side on a sunny day. Which of the two looks ridiculius now?

Depends on the ancestry of Godzilla, but considering the fact that it's canon that he/she/it lives under the ocean for long periods of time without the need to surface, there's ample evidence to suggest that the animals that formed the background of any given Godzilla from any given timeline were indeed aquatic, or at the very least amphibian. If Godzilla is some kind of freak reptile/amphibian nuclear hybrid, it might be able to absorb oxygen from water through the skin, or even have gills under its armor plate.

Given this evidence, and if Godzilla is indeed a native to the ocean, then yes, in a possible universe where Aquaman and Godzilla coexist, Godzilla would be Aquaman's city-destroying bitch.
