Spell tome is retarded, why would you trade the option to learn something instantly right then and there having full use of it for the rest of your life while shaving off only the very last least active years of your life for the ability to spend 3 times that much time actively studying during the middle or early years of your life only to gain access to said power once you've spent that much time later? Having to put actual effort into learning the skill should be rewarded not punished.

I believe the intent is that you are not taking the entire day studying but more like an 8 hour job so you are still able to live life while gaining the ability for the same investment in actual time at least that's how I am treating it.

Even if you're just studying it 1/3rd of your waking day if you have to do it 3x as many days then you're still just going even as far as time of your life goes except instead of being something that's passively shaved off the end of your lifespan and you get the powers to use whenever you like at any point up till then you're instead spending that time working your ass off to learn it and in the meantime you get zero of those powers.

You're basically agreeing to work for your powers instead of just having them and on top of all that you have to pay a month for each power you decide to do that to.

It just means that you gain abilities like in most rpg's and a lot of books,stories and movies you study and gain them over time instead bamf I got powers. Meh I don't see it as a bad deal since you get to live your life like normal. maybe take a cool power that would pay the bills immediately and get a lot of the rest by study.

so when it says study you think it just means you get a weakened version of the power and have to use that consistently enough to master it but not that you actually have to put everything thing aside and actually study the book for that entire duration to get the power.

I think that's where the difference is here between us.
