This is my Grandfather, Frank Paquette. He joined The Canadian Navy 17 years of age in 1942 at the height of the Battle for the Atlantic, and served until the end of the war. His Role was that of a First Class Engineer in the Hull of a Corvette type Cruiser, in which he Served In two ships, H.M.C.S. CARTIER and The H.M.S.C. OAKVILLE. The ships were used to escort convoys from North America To the war effort in Europe. But it was on The H.M.C.S. OAKVILLE that he would find himself in his biggest engagement of his career.
