In Britain its driving under the influence, possession and possession with intent to supply which are crimes I dont know about if just being high is illegal.

That one post about the history teacher reminds me of a time when we where learning about our ancestry and my great-granddad was one of the main architects who worked on the Atlantic wall, inner circle and all.
My teacher had me suspended then when I was finally allowed back in school I had to cross out that entire part of the family tree so it looked like my dad never knew his father.

You live in Germany and you found out your grandfather did something for the nazi's during world war 2? What a shocker. I'm not implying he was a nazi, there are lot of people who had to do work for the german government who didn't subscribe the to nazi ideals.
Surely that teacher could be fired. You can't be punished for something your grandfather did.

He was a nazi, like a full blown one so I must admit it's not like he was completely innocent and even though he died when I was still pretty young (was in prison till 1991 or something since he never actually killed anyone) he was always good to me and my grandpa.
He convinced my grandpa to teach me how to hunt at an unusually young age and always told me not to deal in absolutes.
This became a meme between my dad and me since we where starwars fanboys.
I mean he wasn't completely innocent but he wasn't completely evil either and now people want me to forget him and deny his existence.

I found out my great granduncle did logicstics for a concentration camp in Poland and he attended the Wannsee Konferenz, apperently he was a hardcore loyalist to Hitler and noone was really sad that he went missing in the war and never returned.

He even has a wikipedia article.

Out of my four great granddads, all went to war in WWII, three had slightly higher positions(lower officer ranks), two were absolutely convinced nazis and only one returned. It's still a big part of our history but no reason to judge people because of their forefathers. My great grandma was absolutely convinced that we could have won the war if there hadn't been so many jews and non-patriots in Germany who would undermine the state and the army etc. She died some 20 odd years ago but was a firm believer in the nazi ideology until her death.

Never forget your heritage, Hans. Modern Germany can takr everything from you and punish you just as easily as your teacher did, but they can never take your memories of your family and their glory. Bless you and your forefathers.

Whenever i see these faith in humanity comps, i'm reminded of when a little old lady asked me to help her down an escalator last year. She was waiting at the top of an escalator and let several people pass, but asked me to help her when i was passing by. And it still feels pretty nice to be the one "picked".
That and i recently started waving as long as i'm not doing a set ofcourse at people who have to wait for traffic lights in front of the gym i go to. It's surprising how many people smile and wave back.
