Sorry, I Hate Thor Ragnaroklegendarylegends Best-and-WorstAdjust content blockingContent Blocking nextrandomComment Prev Next Please just give me a chance to explain my dislike of this movie! My hatred for this movie merits tons of explanation, I expect. I was really not sure where to begin, but I think I found a big place we can all agree on... You see, when Thor Ragnarok was made, we lost some things... Loss #1: Retcon the Asgard Lore Now, Asgard are a bunch of mostly white colonizers and conquerors who stole all they own and never gave it back. This not only retcons the relationship Asgard has with the other realms, but also creates arguments to validate the Frost Giant invasion of earth and other locations. It creates and extreme amount of complications for the lore already given prior to this movie. Also, it makes Asgard into political statement about the history of colonialism and subjugation of populaces taken over, and I don't want race politics in my superhero movie. Loss #2: Destroying Romance Thor's love interest is a human woman from earth. This movie needs to replace the female part, right? Drop in a Valkyrie and make sure she has no romantic interest in Thor, that was their solution. Even worse, Thor's romance was not the only victim, so was the romance of the good doctor Hulk and Black Widow, which was just put on the dumpster of delayed or deleted content to tell the story of this movie. Admittedly, that romance was something added later and removed the romance between the doctor and that general's daughter... Darn I cannot remember the name... Loss #3: Planet Hulk I was legit waiting for Planet Hulk, and I had fan theories because I was so hyped up for it. Sadly, instead of seeing a plot that progressed Hulk as a character and gave him personal struggles beyond just smashing things, we got a supporting role as Planet Hulk was taken over completely to make Thor Ragnarok. Bonus: My fan theory was that the Red King was going to be revealed to be Red Skull, and that he was pushing Darwinian Evolution to its max with the tournaments he held. Then, he would take the attributes of the winners and use them to make himself even stronger while engaging in genocide. It would actually be a messed up horror show of Nazism running an entire planet, and the pure rage of Hulk would allow them to fight the evil ruler of their world. This would allow Hulk to appreciate talking to other people and becoming more intelligent. Also, some of this theory is confirmed by dialog from the Grandmaster. He explains that time flows differently there. It was a small line, but I must argue it was planned to be more important to the plot than it ended up as.Now, you may be wondering.... Why the picture of Ron Burgundy? Well, here is my biggest problem with Thor Ragnarok, and it is also one that I must note in many of the other Marvel movies: They don't feel like Superhero movies. The above might sound strange, but it is true. You see, they feel more like Ron Burgundy was rewritten as a superhero films. I like superhero stuff, and I like comedy, but there is a point when the banter is just overwhelming, and it kills alot of the fun. There is no slow building wonder or mystery over the circumstances, just a bunch of quips about how that one guy wants to bang that one girl or how a certain character is petty over something. It starts to grate on me, and it gets old fast. It actually kills rewatches of those movies, because I came for superhero movies, and got comedies instead. Also, tons of great 80s music to remind us that we like that music, but it feels like shallow nostalgia pandering at this point.Well, what say you to my appraisal? I bet many will hate it, but my opinion is my own. next +25 -Favorite +Favorite Unsub from legendarylegends Subscribe to legendarylegends Unblock User's Content Block User's Content Sub/Block Channels Best-and-Worst:UploadUnblockBlockSubUnsubsubs: 11 FJ needs your help to survive!
