There was a pepsi add where some big protest was going on (Think BLM vs Swat or something) and this woman literally calmed the entire protest down by handing out pepsi, like she held out a can of pepsi to the Swat guy and he lowered his shields to take it.

I'm one of the many idiots who actually went to the most violent protests they could find with a bunch of pepsi and honestly the police did lower their shields a couple of times to take a pepsi.
Antifa mostly lost their ****.
Got hit with broomsticks and yelled at but the popo really liked it.
The part that makes it all worth it is that when one of the police guys broke the line to drink a pepsi some antifa decided to try and charge the weakspot in the formation just to get beaten by the guy next to him.

We made a video but it'd be illegal to upload it.
I live in Germany where filming someone committing a crime and publishing it is getting punished more severe than the crime.
Cops warned us about uploading it and said we could only share the parts with them drinking pepsi and that ended up looking staged as ****.

The native germans are extremely hard workers.
The "new left" however are trying to change this trend.
German work is insanely efficient. When I worked in the Netherlands the work that was supposed to be done over an entire day was often less work than I'd accomplish here in a single break worth of work.
Nowadays however we have a female quota which is lowering efficiency by insane amounts.
We got 4 steps of extra approval to go through for sexism, racism, homophobia and bigotry which effectively lead to a 90% productivity loss after which I quit and decided to work as an e-sports caster instead.
But we used to be damn efficient.

Thats another thing it has me pundering, we are also a little behind social stuff, but we dont also let it bother/interfere so much with the rest of the life.

when i told my RH department that im planing to start taking hormones and **** around next year all they asked me was, be sure to tell us the appointment by 2 weeks in advance and dont fall in your metrics.

they didnt gave a **** on both good and bad ways, as long as i keep my numbers right for the company and im still amazed by the huge circus '1st world' countries do over petty ****.

i remember like 15 years ago it was people suing the **** of each other for nothing like hot coffee was too hot or your private building doesnt have a public ramp for people on wheelchair.
now its the same but with mental concepts that opens the hellgates for more petty ****.

anyway, probably the capital is a huge mess, but what about the rest of the country? a friend of mine will be going there for short vacations

The very south and very north seem to be the best parts of germany to stay at right now.
Up north near the coast nobody gives a **** about politics and down south nearly everyone is a conservative christian with moderate views so people in those areas are nice and you hardly see any refugees.

Also, i'm still not done on that subject, who the **** decided it was a good idea to take a huge social-psychologic and political issue such as extremist activist groups, police violence and mass protest and boil it down to "Y'know, Pepsi solves everything! That's not belittleing or offensive at all!" Like ******* Little Debbie would make an ad about a bomber plane dropping twinkies down on Iraq and all the Soldiers and Muslims stopped killing on another to enjoy some bukkaked piece of kitchen sponge together, what the actual **** marketing people.

Honestly the main mistake is trying to market to the SJW's which are super sensitive on the topic.
I mean the twinkies add you described wouldn't have had the best reception ever but they could've gotten away with it.
Hell I'm about 90% sure I could make an ad like that work out well by simply attaching a simple sentence to the end of it.
Subway is well known for making political ads which sell.
The problem is the people targeted by the ads and their faulty execution.

I suppose you have a good point, but I feel the issue still stands in their execution, they shot and composed it to make it legitimately seem like Pepsi could solve *race issues*. Had it just been a couple young, post-modernly dressed teenagers holding comically large signs and yelling at old, fat and grumpy cops before pepsi began to rain down on them and everyone was happy, it would've been a completely different thing, but when you take such a sincere angle to it you make it seem like:
(A) Pepsi is a godsend that transcends deep rooted political issues.
OR
(B) Protests, violent activism, police violence and racism was all just caused by people not getting their Pepsi fix for the day

I interpreted it somewhat like your first option but more along the lines of "pepsi is so good you can't help but sit back and enjoy the drink, no matter what else is going on" or a tac about it being a socialising drink, "brings people together and no matter people's differences they can always bond over their shared love of pepsi."
Seemed a lot less offensive that way than how people took it.

I suppose, of course I'm not trying to take any one standpoint too strongly here, but consider this; Protests are not small things, they're often accompanied by thousands of people, if not tens of thousands, and with so many activist groups and inherent anti-*insert activist group* groups, there's a good chance hundreds of thousands of people saw that commercial, and saw an activity that they risk alot to do be represented as just some people needing something to drink. Wether or not their activist agenda was good or not, it's still pretty thoughtless to launch a campaign like that, it'd be like showing a family argument because a son wants to marry a woman of another religion, but the argument is solved because they shared some oreos, it just comes off as very, very poor taste. Atleast in my opinion.

I agree it was very poorly thought through and very poorly executed, but I don't think the message they intended to get across was in poor taste, it was just badly expressed.
It's a bit more complicated when people get offended by a misinterpretation of the message.

I'd like to ad that you can shoot a "realistic" ad like that to target other people though.
If in example an ad depicting real war targeted at military personnel and veterans would've gotten a way better reception since they don't really give a ****.

While I agree it's pretty distasteful to make an ad trying to market and make money off of a serious issue like this, I think it got blown out of proportion. the statement "Pepsi solves everything!" is the message people seem to be taking from it, but I don't think that was the intent at all. I like to think Pepsi was trying to say that we should all just take some time to sit back and get along. Enjoy life, enjoy a Pepsi, relax. There's a lot of violence and terrible things in the world and obviously it's way more complicated than just getting along and drinking some pepsi, but in an ideal world it might be nice if people with such different opinions could come together and coexist without police brutality and mass protests.

But that's just my take and I don't really know if I explained that super well

Okay, let's put it this way; Imagine you're protesting against the banning of net neutrality
(Which everyone should be doing) and you're outside with a bunch of people, and swat is trying to push you back, some people are fighting, Swat is beanbagging them down, it's a huge mess, you get hurt, your friends get hurt.
