Mainly her legs and what she's wearing...are those...leggings? If so, why doesn't it go straight to her shoes?

In that case, why is she not wearing socks? Or...is it supposed to look like her clothes don't fit her?

Additionally, her hair color is a bit wack, compared to the natural hair colors of the other girls.

Even if she's darker skinned, they could have still worked a little harder on her look.

Had the writers had any respect for the show, I wouldn't have minded Bliss.

But from episode 1, it was just bad getting worse, and an on-the-nose SJW fanfiction-fest.

I don't mind her skin color either. I hate the hair but I'm willing to let it slide as a matter of personal preference. What bothers me most are the ******* hips. This isn't some adult supermodel - it's a kid, and a powerpuff girl at that. She looks like an actual fan character - like some five year old drew their own OC Donut Steel and didn't get the original design.
Plus it's kinda just creepy in a way. By itself it could be innocent enough, but with the whole Jared thing... something doesn't smell right here.

Dude, she barely has any hips. At least not in comparison to the more sultry characters in the series. The only reason she's taller than the rest of the girls is because she's chronologically 10 and, if we're going with the fact that the girls were old enough and intelligent enough to skip straight to kindergarten, biologically 15 at the very least. You're letting your bias cloud your judgment.

I'm fairly certain nobody would be making that comparison if she made her debut in the original PPG. After all, it's the same generation that gave us the Rowdy Ruff Boys, who were simply gender swaps of the original girls, and Bunny, who's basically the Hunchback of Powerpuff. Any character modeled after the PPGs is going to look like a fan character since aesthetic dimorphism is relatively low. The only things that would give them visible distinguishing traits would be their wardrobe, color

Now, I'm all for being against the overly-PC crowd and all that, it's really annoying when casts of shows are formulaic variations of the smart asian, the overall hard working black guy who occasionally slips into ghetto vernacular, the white gay, the white everyman etc.

However, at what point are we crossing the line? This is one brown character and your only issue with her is apparently that she is brown.

It's not wrong to have characters that aren't white in a show, it IS wrong to do the Tumblr-esque **** I mentioned above.

Frankly I don't see a reasonable argument as to why the new Powerpuff girl shouldn't be non-white.

As I've said, my problem isn't with an underrepresentation of black people, my problem is with people having an issue with the character because it is black. Two entirely different stances.

I'm not pushing for a diversity quota, I'm saying (not in response to you, more so in response to the other guy) that maybe when your life has come to the point that you immediately start screeching at brown characters, look in the mirror and reconsider.

Btw it harms absolutely no one to make a character brown, or white, or asian or whatever so yes I'm for OCCASIONALLY doing that in a non-hamfisted way.

I see your point, but I don't have a problem with her being black. Sure she doesn't need to be any race, but 75 percent of the time if it's a minority it's because of a diversity quota, then they virtue signal that diversity. Maybe they aren't doing it this time, but thats not the point. They could have added another character and have them be black/Asian/Hispanic, and nobody would have blinked an eye. The problem is that they added another (though from what I heard it's the devil villain) "main character" and of course she's a minority because "diversity". I don't mean to sound bigoted.

In simpler terms it isn't because shes black, its because they CHOSE for her to be black when she could have been any other race.

Well, she couldn't have been any other race. People would be having the exact same reactions whether the character was asian, or Hispanic, or Indian or whatever. So then the argument becomes it's only acceptable for the character to be white, otherwise it comes down to a diversity quota conspiracy, and that to me, feels very dissonant.

My issue with the character is that it exists at all, because it shouldn't, although writers often introduce characters to renew interest in dying or old shows. I personally doubt this is a diversity quota thing, it feels more like attempting to tap into an untapped market to me. But maybe I'm just slightly more cynical (or slightly less cynical, depending on your perspective?)

At the end of the day, you can't win. SOME group of people will complain about SOMETHING you do. I don't see any harm in making the character brown, and really I don't even see any real harm in the diversity quota ********, other than it's incredibly tacky and tasteless. So far it doesn't look like the character is an sjw personality type or anything, so why should anyone care?

In terms of diversity quota, any one of those races would've hit the mark, so I fail to see any significance in the fact that the wheel landed on black..

Also, in theory , PPG could've always been a diversity quota thing. If we assume Blossom is Irish-white, Bubbles Nordic-white, and Buttercup Hispanic (black hair, green eyes?) In which case this new character would just be following that original trend.

Yes now imagine you're in a white majority country and most people are white while 12% are black. Why would you be surprised that you're not represented as much? It's like going to Africa and demanding there be more Whites in power when Whites are 5% of the population. Thus **** isn't about feelings, it's about facts. Is it significant to the plot at all that she is black or is it only a cosmetic reskin?

If there are plot points centered around her blackness and about how hard it was for her to have grown up black yada yada yada I will concede that that could be wrong.

Ok I actually read the back story and it's pretty autistic. Bliss, is apparently professor utoniums first daughter that he sent off to an island somewhere bc she was too strong or some ****. And of course this has never been mentioned before. Then she suddenly goes back to professor utonium and meets the other girls. They are enemies at first and then they work together in the "Power of Four" (that's what the premier was called on cartoon network) to show that although they are different they can still get along. How much more obvious can you make this. This is obviously just an attempt to preach about the wonders of diversity and how multiculturalism makes us stronger and blah blah blah. So I was right. They literally made her black so she would be very visibly different from the other 3. If she was white it would make no goddamn sense because they wouldn't be "different" enough, not that it makes sense that she's brown either but at least they have a good way to push the whole diversity agenda. There are actually a few articles that bitch about how "violent and unpredictable" the brown one is snd how that's racist somehow. Because you know people have to get triggered regardless of how much pandering is done. You keep believing that I'm part of some alt right conspiracy to keep the darkies away from TV though. The issue is that she was added for the sole reason of having a brown character. There was no need for another character to begin with. Do you think it makes sense to add another Powerpuff girl out of nowhere? No it doesn't, but the reason they did was so they could add another non white power puff girl. That's my problem with it. That they did it solely to please this PC ******** crowd. If it's a new show, sure I could care less but this show is from the 90s I'm pretty sure there are no blacks or non whites in general and now all of a sudden they decide to add a new Powerpuff girl and she just happens to be brown? Not to mention the fact that there are 3 sisters who look similar and are all white, same as their "father" professor plutonium. You think it makes sense for him to change his formula and add some mud so she can be brown or would he follow the same formula that he knows for a fact works. It makes no sense whatever way you look at this. This is the equivalent of a diversity hire at the workplace. The person is simply there to fill a quota/make the company look "diverse".
