Disable autoplay Hello FJ! about three days ago user wardd uploaded a content of a 3D model for the Huddle of feels. He mentioned that he looked for someone to make it in a real life size but failed to find any convenience option (the ones available are overpriced) .So I thought it would be fun to 3D print it. at first I thought it would be an easy mission. I never thought it would be an adventure. So I loaded the design into the Slicer, adjusted my usual settings, saved it on the SD and started the print. Attempt #1 The printer that's currently working has only a print volume of 125mm^3 so I had to print the model at a veeery small size, like a figurine or something. but with that, I had to make sure I had the best print setting so I can get the best quality out of this, and by doing so, the print time has to be increased. The Slicer software estimated a print time of 20hrs!*Quoting the first update from the post* So after 10 hours of printing I come to see this mess. basically what happened is that some support material (those are meant to be there when there's something in the design that doesn't have anything underneath it, so another stuff are added to the design so the printer doesn't print in the air. when the print finishes the support material breaks away) has broken while printing in some areas, which means if the print continues, the printer won't find support in these area and will print in the air. in the picture, the green lines shows where the support were printed with no issue, and the red lines shows where things went wrong. this happened because of the support settings where I over increased the spacing between the model and the support itself so I can break away the support easily without leaving any remaining, but unfortunately it made the support so fragile that the printer broke it while printing. I just fixed the problem and fired it again. but it's gonna have to start all over again. Attempt #2I've started the second attempt at 6/30 4:00pm and this photo was taken on 7/2 4:00am which means this photo was taken after 36 hours WHILE IT'S STILL PRINTING! I didn't pause it and I didn't do anything it was working non-stop for 36 hours and it only finished like %80 of the model. HELL! one single power outage or one single nozzle clog and the whole thing would be thrown in the garbage. but luckily, after maybe 7 or 8 hours (I don't have a record on that one), it finished printing, successfully. Here's the final thing before cleaning all that support. This was the longest print I've ever did in my life so far. It was a stress knowing that at any moment one small wrong thing could fail the whole thing, and it's not uncommon for those little things to happen. needless to say, I'm so proud with the outcome and with the fact that I've learned so much **** by printing this model. time for the next headache that is cleaning.Just look at all that wasted ******* material. Cleaning took about 2 hours. it took so much time because after the first attempt failed I've increased the density of the support which made it stronger, but hard to remove. also reaching the small spots was so damn hard to clean considering a wrong move could cost a leg (literally). THE FINAL RESULTWelp! there you go guys. I'm tired and I dunno how to end this conclusion I made a thing special thanks for wardd for making the 3D design and sharing it here and spacial thanks for the guys who supported me and made me continue on this journey with joy. I love you ****** and now I'll go and have sex with my bed. goodnight. join list: huddleOfFeels3D (142 subs)Mention Historyprevnext +1968 -Favorite +Favorite Unblock User's Content Block User's Content
