Hello, friends!
I made this dinky little account to try and be a good friend for people here. I have come to understand that small image sharing websites seem to attract a high concentration of people who are sad, angry, depressed, or physically unhealthy. That is not to say that all or even most people here are, just that I want you guys to know that someone out there wants you to do your best and feel good about it. I would like to start making a guide on how to be a good person, a healthy person, a happy person, a wholesome person.
Note: I am not a professional, just a friend. If you need help from a professional, please contact one immediately!
Part 1: The Mind
Your brain is, well, you! Every action you've done or thought you have had, intentional or not, came from the most valuable organ in your body. The various parts of your brain control various parts of your body. Though this will be important to learn to maintain physical health, right now, we will focus on your consciousness and thought.First and foremost, I would like to discuss disease. As we touched on how important the brain is, it is clear that any disease or malfunction of it can cause a plethora of other problems. When it comes to mental disease, some of the more common ones are: Depression, Overactive Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and many Addiction Disorders.
Depression is often one of the most dangerous of mental disorders due to its tendency to go unnoticed and to cause the afflicted to put themselves or loved ones in harm's way. Depression can occur "naturally" due to chemical imbalance or hereditary predisposition, socially due to interactions with others or with self leading to pessimistic thoughts, or environmentally, due to events in one's life or even in unhealthy living conditions.
Some symptoms of depression are:
-Irregular or unusual sleep patterns
-Over or under eating
-Frequent or long lasting feelings of anxiety, dread, anger, or sadness
-Fatigue
-Inexplicable pains, including stomachaches, headaches, or cramps
-Difficulty concentrating or focusing
-Apathy or lack of care for anything
-Sudden loss of interest in hobbies or friends and family
-Thoughts of self harm, including thoughts of suicide
If you feel that you or one you care for suffers from depression, Get Help. It is better to be safe than sorry. Talk to someone, see a doctor, anything. If you are feeling suicidal or think a loved one might be, GET HELP IMMEDIATELY. In a crisis situation, call emergency services (US: 911. UK: 999)

You do not have to be suicidal to contact these sources. You do not have to be from the US or UK to utilize their online resources.
If you notice that you don't think the same way that everyone else does and that it may be a mental disease, don't be scared to get help. It doesn't mean you're crazy or weak, it means you have a disease that must be treated.
Now that we have the important stuff out of the way, let's get on to being wholesome. To be wholesome to others, you must first be kind to yourself. There were previous attempts to raise self esteem in the populace, this Wholesome Meme movement being the latest (and smallest, I think). This goes beyond making you feel good, it has psychological, social, and physical benefits. Increased motivation can help prevent social and environmentally induced mental disorders, can help keep you wanting to maintain physical health through exercise and balanced dieting, and keeps you from taking out your stress on others, thus keeping not only your heart high, but those of the ones you interact with.
Learning to appreciate yourself can be hard for some to learn. Sometimes, a well worded speech and some quiet self reflection can be enough (“Every one of us is, in the cosmic perspective, precious. If a human disagrees with you, let him live. In a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another.” -Carl Sagan). Sometimes, it takes a loved one. In some cases, self appreciation rises from tragedy, in others, victory.
I must urge you to love yourself. Every person is at least partially redeemable and every person has the potential to improve the lives of those around them. You have value, even if you have not done anything, that does not mean that you never will. Perhaps you will be the person to stop world hunger, or maybe the inspiration for the one who does. Maybe you're the only reason one of your friends gets up in the morning. It's possible that your value goes beyond what you can perceive, so please, try and see that you are important as a human being, as a human living. You deserve to be happy with who you are.
Finally, for the wholesome mind, is knowing how to be kind to others. This can be hard to learn for some, but naturally to others. You must try to be kind to as many as possible. That doesn't mean lighting yourself on fire to keep others warm, but it does mean doing your best to helping others keep happy, even if they are not doing the same. Tell your friends you appreciate them, call your parents every once in a while, give to charity, anything. I promise, it's rewarding to be greeted with a smile by at least one person a day. Be social, be kind. If you find it difficult, don't beat yourself up over it. For lack of better terminology, ween yourself on to the social lifestyle. Get a social phone app, join a local club, or even just visit a bar or similar establishment once a week. Find a friend, hang out with them, that kind of stuff. Social health is important, and I plan to go further into this later.
I hope this helps out!
