Yeah, we're discussing the ending here, so don't go there unless you're ready for spoilers about the ending, and a few things leading up to it.
Everything I did pointed towards a multiple endings slideshow, like in New Vegas: Nick's quest after getting him to like me enough, having to pick one of 3-4 factions, moral choices...
What did I get?
A generic final battle, and an even more universal, generic cutscene showing the pre and post-war world, with the protagonist saying that he wishes he could turn time back, live with his family again, but can't and will just make the best of what he has, "because war... war never changes". That was a very forced use of the quote.
And that's it.
Seriously? I sided with the Railroad, what happened to them? What happened to ex-Institute members after I won? What about the BoS, Nick, Diamond City, other Synths, Minutemen? What about that child Shaun Synth I took along? What about the Commonwealth as a whole? Did everybody magically forget about everyone?
The game was great up until the ending, it actually looked like Bethesda learned something from Obsidian, but turned a potentially-good ending into a terrible one for such a big game.
