Story time: Ironically I had a friend that was in the guard, served in Iraq because he was, and I ******* quote "bored of logistics" - he was literally so bored that he asked to go to war (still refers to it as the most mindless job he's ever done) then went to transfer from the Virginia guard to the Florida one when he moved back here. Something happened and they lost his paperwork, and he was like **** it and just didn't follow up for like 8 months until his commander called him. Apparently he basically just asked if he was still interested in being in, he told them point blank no, and the commander arranged to do some kind of paperwork with him and gave him some kind of general discharge so they wouldn't have to go through the proceedings of AWOLing him. So apparently if you're bored enough, you can get the army to go "**** it" too. I don't really know the details tho, he was my drinking buddy so we didn't really get into details while getting *********.
