The Real Rain Man

Kim Peek is arguably the world's most famous savant and the inspiration behind the Oscar-winning film, Rain Man. Described as "a living Google", Kim is a confounding mix of disability and brilliance that has baffled neurosurgeons. Most savants have only one dominating interest, but Kim seems to soak up everything: from sport to politics and even the minutiae of the British monarchy.

This ************ right here is Daniel Tammet, AKA Brain Man. He's another high functioning savant. He flawlessly recited pi to 22,514 digits and sees numbers as their own shapes and colors. He learned Icelandic ins a week.

I met this guy at a restaurant I worked at a few years ago. He was given an oscar, I guess for being the inspiration or whatever, and he had it with him. I got to take a picture with it (surprisingly heavy btw). He could do some tricks like tell him your bday and he could tell you the day of the week you were born on, or tell him a line from any shakespear play and he could tell you what page/paragraph/line it was on. pretty neat

Had to leave for class but left this page up. So glad I did. Speechless. His relationship with his dad is something special indeed.

He is not a savant. He's a genius with a mental defect. A savant is someone who is an idiot, but is REALLY GOOD at one thing.

The more you know.
