Ever heard of a screen protector or declawing a cat. Both are fairly common.

When you "declaw" a cat... does it actually remove their claws... or just trim them?
User avatar #5 to #4 - deadlegend (01/03/2012) [-]
Removes the entire claw so that they don't grow anymore, its fairly common to do to the claws on the front paws of house cats.

I'm not sure how i feel about this....

It actually saves a lot of pain from a trimming the claws too short. Plus my cat acted no different after the operation. Sounds like a win-win to me.

i guess but i bet you'd be pretty pissed if i removed your ability to throw spears... sure you don't need to hunt deer anymore but you'd still be pissed XD

A bit of an odd example i know but we don't really have any natural wepons XD

I think Its more like being circumcised, your not losing anything that you were going to need.

Its done to infants and they don't remember the pain, like the cats. That piece of skin only increases the risk of std's and infection, and serves no function to the body (in today's world). I see few better examples applying to humans, appendixes possibly?

possibly... cats still like to hunt stuff.. and it's a bit **** if your cat dies or gets seriously injured cause it gets in a fight and can't defend itself

Its only done to house cats for that reason. said in comment 5.
