What made her less hot? The way I read that comment, I expected him to draw that chick and then change like 2 little things and somehow turn her into a demon or a man with a mustache or something.

**chaosspawn rolled a random image** No big deal, this isn't hard. Just get a real picture of a person/object and erase it layer by layer. Then play the footage backwards. ??? Profit.

I don't mean to be "one of those know it all douches", but just from experience with Photoshop and editing, it just seems like a reverse picture edit/speed paint. It looks like he had a picture, then used the tools to remove details from the layers, and the just had a traced outline of the picture. I mean, I could be wrong, but watching it backwards it just really looks like a fake speed paint.

That was genius. I mean he CREATED layers and then he removed details by doing stuff over them, it looks like he created lays and then used the highlite tool, paintbrushes, stuff like that. It's not really that hard to do, I've done it before. Try it, take a picture in Photoshop, create a few layers, then begin to paint over it until it's simplified and then trace the outline and remove the other layers you painted on. It takes 15 minutes, maybe.

I thought the same thing

...Reverse editing? Really? That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk but who the hell reverse edits a picture out of their spare time? That takes more work than creating the image in the first place. This is definitely an image being created, rather than someone breaking the portrait down into simpler shapes/lines.
User avatar #132 to #100 - msbea (11/09/2011) [-]
It takes like 15 minutes to create layers then paint over a picture. Just open up Photoshop and try it. Get a picture, create two or three layers, then just go to town. Just start slappin' colors over it until it looks simple, and then create a layer and trace the outline, then remove your colored layers and boom, you're done.

And by reverse editing I guess I mean he took a video of him doing this, and then reversed it, or whatever.
#134 to #132 - ctprime (11/09/2011) [-]
Either you're trolling, or you really think that someone would really take an image, repaint it, then deconstruct it to fake their creation if that image.

If you already have a photograph of someone that's just a single layer, there's no actual point in trying to break it down. It's not easy to just reverse engineer a digital image that only has one layer. That would mean that you have to duplicate the image yourself by actually repainting it (which defeats the purpose of reverse editing it) then record your process backwards while reversing the video after when you are done. Not to mention you have to take away colors in a reasonable fashion so it looks like you are "adding substance" to the image you are working on. Which would take too much time.
I know Photoshop is a powerful tool when it comes to editing and creating photos, but I have yet to see something that you described in your comment.

And so far, the only reason why you claimed that this video was fake is because of the artists' process of the speedpaint. And that gives you no excuse to say that this is fake.
User avatar #135 to #134 - msbea (11/10/2011) [-]
I didn't say he repainted the entire thing, I said that he just took a picture, made layers on top of it, then just slapped simple colors over it. You're telling me it would really take that long to take a picture and create a few layers and deconstruct it? I don't really know how to explain this properly, but maybe I'll try to make a video of me doing it, because trust me, I have definitely done it with a SINGLE LAYER picture before. I didn't redraw the image, I didn't put that much effort into it, I just started with something, and then painted over it until it looked simple, and then reverse that, and it looks like I'm going forward and adding detail to nothing.

why the hell than he does liquify stuff?
#86 to #80 - anon (11/09/2011) [-]
Reverse editing ? It would be an even greater achievement.
User avatar #131 to #86 - msbea (11/09/2011) [-]
Reverse editing meaning he wasn't enhancing the picture, he was going backwards and removing detail and stuff.
#92 to #80 - anon (11/09/2011) [-]
Eh you obviously dont know the capabilities of some people with photoshop. It's very possible to achieve photo realistic images using technical skill. If you search macpulenta on youtube you'll also find this capability although he does use reference images which is the case here most likely.

I can also achieve close to this level when using a reference, although not quite so realistic as people arent my strong suit when it comes to painting
User avatar #133 to #92 - msbea (11/09/2011) [-]
That is true, I don't doubt that there are people who can create lifelike images on Photoshop (I've come close, and I definitely know people who make some amazing pictures) but from personal experience, sitting next to them and watching them make a portrait from scratch, that looked almost nothing like how any of them digitally painted. Some of the steps just looked so like..Photo edity, not like he was drawing, you know what I mean? It could just be his technique I wasn't really getting, and the way it was sped up that just seems to make it look fake, but I definitely could be wrong of course.

aww yup, if so, then explain HOW this guy would manage to edit something, THEN make the selection around the feature.
#47 to #46 - lorddingaking (11/09/2011) [-]
No but really, I don't know if this guy did whatI said or not.. doubtful but i was simply stating a way he could have done it.
User avatar #49 to #47 - TFTH (11/09/2011) [-]
it is a way people can do it, But in the vid he selects the face and then edits it, if it was your way it would be around the other way. your way would work perfect in paint though xD
