Marine speaks out to cops

United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Shamar Thomas from Roosevelt, NY went toe to toe with the New York Police Department. An activist in the Occupy Wall Street movement, Thomas voiced his opinions of the NYPD police brutality that had and has been plaguing the #OWS movement.

Thomas is a 24-year-old Marine Veteran (2 tours in Iraq), he currently plays amateur football and is in college.

Thomas comes from a long line of people who sacrifice for their country: Mother, Army Veteran (Iraq), Step father, Army, active duty (Afghanistan), Grand father, Air Force veteran (Vietnam), Great Grand Father Navy veteran (World War II).

It's good to see people standing up for what's right, especially standing up to these corrupt cops.

So what he's saying is; GOD FORBID we hurt US citizens. Go to another country..and hurt THEIR citizens. Just clarifying.

He doesent have any power over killing people? He is told an order and he does said order otherwise he ends up in the brigg. These cops may be scared that it will turn into a riot but that is no reason to attack people who are peacefully protesting.

Following orders that go against your moral code is selling out. It's a mug thing to do.

In the wise words of Chris Eccleston, after hearing a soldier tell him "I was just following orders."

"You just lost all rights to even speak to me."

If he's out of the service, it doesn't matter. Veterans walk around all jacked up all the time, but no one is going to say anything to them. They did their part.

cops get a bad rep. those people are mostly there illegally. Yes, we have a right to peacefully gather, but to block up city streets requires permits. Cops are just doing their jobs. Yes, some cops are more brutal than needed, but I'm willing to bet that those cops there didn't hurt anyone. Was anyone making a scene before he showed up? The OWS has yet to actually come up with a main request or set of demands. They just hang out all day and make a mess.

right now the OWS is in its baby steps and since most of them are young they have no political background to organize politically like the tea party did. And yeah you are right, I think a bit of the police brutality is blown out of proportion but that's what OWS wants. More publicity. Right now they are just showing how many people are pissed off about the recent collapse of our country and the ******** that surrounded it. There are NO official demands. But that is simply because they are creating a list of demands and letting people vote on them here:
