Wait... what the **** is going on there?

Why is the Eiffel tower attacking Soviet forces? I'm sure it was a Soviet missions where you had to charge the Eiffel tower with tesla troopes.

Also, why has it got tanks from one of the older C&C games?

This was from the back cover of the CD case, where no one could tell if it was inaccurate.

france actually had a big Resistance during the war.
User avatar #29 to #13 - symmiie ONLINE (06/16/2014) [-]
A resistance to fighting.
#54 to #13 - atomicman (06/16/2014) [-]
True, apart from the fact that it's not. They did put up a fight, but they got overrun during WW2(which is clearly what you mean). The german blitzkrieg tactic stomped the French. They also avoided their line of defense by attack thru an unforseen opening in the north(the netherlands). They took Paris in not too long.

They lost their first battle in Stalingrad in Russia. Which also meant the beginning of the end.

The german soldiers were generally better trained, better equiped and more disciplined than the French soldiers. They were simply superior. Though not half as organised as alot of people think. Great losses were made especially during D-day(where they got flanked for the troops arrived far north from where they expected). But these weren't french soldiers. They had long surrendered. France did put up some resistance, but if I quote the nazi commander in charge at Normandie 'way less than I expected'.
User avatar #90 to #54 - herecomesjohnny ONLINE (06/16/2014) [-]
no i meant the French Resistance.
User avatar #93 to #90 - atomicman (06/16/2014) [-]
Yea that had this:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Resistance

If that's what you mean. The resistance from the actual soldiers wasn't too impressive
User avatar #94 to #93 - herecomesjohnny ONLINE (06/16/2014) [-]
That's what the word resistance usually connotes. And the french soldiers were put on the maginot line, which hitler avoided
User avatar #95 to #94 - atomicman (06/16/2014) [-]
Defenitely not all but quite a few yes. But even on the battlefield for paris they they wrecked. Germany had much stronger artillery fire, better infantery units and better heavy units(tanks). Also their aircrafts were far superior to the french ones.
User avatar #96 to #95 - herecomesjohnny ONLINE (06/16/2014) [-]
evidently, france didn't see the war coming from far enough, by the time the germans were here they still had their old ww1 tanks
User avatar #98 to #96 - atomicman (06/16/2014) [-]
Indeed. Also the french infantery units had only 1 week of proper training. While the germans had a minimum of 3 weeks training before they were sent to battle.

They were better equipped and more enraged than the french units.
User avatar #97 to #95 - herecomesjohnny ONLINE (06/16/2014) [-]
hey dude i was talking about the french resistance, by the way
User avatar #99 to #97 - atomicman (06/16/2014) [-]
Yea it did have that. It wasn't uncommonly big considering France's size tho. They were really well organised suprisingly. Also were of utmost importance during D-day
#100 to #99 - herecomesjohnny ONLINE (06/16/2014) [-]
okay
okay

They really did, it's just when half your country becomes Vichy France people tend to overlook that.
User avatar #30 to #13 - flyingfeces (06/16/2014) [-]
Do you mean the second world war?
I've been on holidays in Normandy, where the invasion started. And in some museum there I saw videos and documents showing France collaboration with the germans. Theres no mentioning of an organized resistance. I am sure there were small cells of resisting people like there were in any other occupied country but no large communities like in other countries there have been.
User avatar #38 to #30 - rockerforlife (06/16/2014) [-]
"The Vichy Regime"

are you kidding me?
User avatar #56 to #30 - atomicman (06/16/2014) [-]
There was organised resistance. They were in fact of great use during D-day. They destroyed some communication towers of the germans at the coast and to the east. Which meant a more succeseful suprise attack, as was the whole point of D-day.

The english/american/canadian soldiers arrived far north from the German defense line because of the retarded generals in charge there(they could've easily barraged the fleet but the local general, Friedrich Dollman, was an idiot). So they got flanked and got slaughtered. Due to the french resistance the reinforcements arrived late. And nomatter how skilled a leader Rommel was(greatest and most respectable general of all that fought during WW2) there was no holding back against the Allies anymore. They took french and drove the germans back into germany.

Where later they got flanked ágain by the INSANE amount of russian troops('they are like ants, they just keep coming!' -quote).

So yea there certainly was organised resistance. Only the french troops got overrun and stomped earlier during the war. They were to surrender fast, but for good reasons. THe germans had incredible artillery fire and heavy tanks.
User avatar #57 to #56 - atomicman (06/16/2014) [-]
*took France. Whoops
#49 to #13 - tealcanaan (06/16/2014) [-]
Eh, they did put up some resistance, but the Polish and the Balkan area did put up some serious fighting.
User avatar #91 to #49 - herecomesjohnny ONLINE (06/16/2014) [-]
n o i meant the French Resistance.
User avatar #55 to #49 - atomicman (06/16/2014) [-]
That is true. But it was horses against the Blitzkrieg tactic(which meant extremely heavy forces meant to overrun the enemy in a short time).

It was one big slaughter. Especially because the first attacks on Poland were extremely well organised and anticipated. The germans kind of seemed to descend into chaos later in the war. But not yet during the battle for Poland.

About 26 Polish units died in order to kill 1 german. They got stomped. Stomped by their superior new tanks and artillery fire.
User avatar #73 to #55 - tealcanaan (06/16/2014) [-]
Of course, I was more talking about the resistance put up after their defeat e.g. Warsaw Uprising.
