The reason they made it .75 for women and $1 for men is because in america women make .75 for every $1 a man makes: they're trying to raise awareness for this issue. They likely assumed that when people come up to buy a cupcake they will ask about the price difference. *flies away*
User avatar #92 to #28 - HarvietheDinkle (10/30/2013) [-]
That ends up punishing the men who have nothing to do with that statistic.

In addition, the men who do happen to get paid more are also being unjustly punished; they didn't cause their bosses to be assholes.

And before you say "they can just decide to not buy the cupcakes" consider the fact that in all other scenarios, making different groups pay different amounts for the same item would be looked down upon.

The wage gap is, pure and simple, a myth; it's just slander that feminists use in order to give more power to their cause, what they never go into detail about is things like 'Over-time' or even the difference between jobs that men and women do.

Oh, and if you want to go on a tangent about how "The sources are biased", I feel I have an obligation to remind you that, for all extents and purposes, the feminist movement is one of the biggest liars, schemers, and embellish in the history of "pro-active movements", regularly and shamelessly putting up things they KNOW are lies just for the sake of a word, like the old "one in four women will be raped in college" shpeel.

To be honest, I'm ok with the wage inequality. Women are ok with having more men risk their lives and die for their country, with the unequal distribution of wealth and family following a divorce, the social norm of men offering their lives to save a female who is threatened...etc. Granted, these things are not experienced by all, whereas wage inequality is, but maybe there are legitimate reasons that explain a large prt of that disparity. For example, more men in technical fields that make more money for the employer, and therefore demand more money for the worker?

Where are you living in 1993?
Women have been earning more than men on average in the same position of work for nearly 5 years now.

Jobs where they earned more than female co workers were jobs where men literally HAD to work harder than the receptionist named sally.

I get that, but it's actually ******** , because a man and a woman working the same jobs will get the same pay. so the coincidence that women happen to get ******** jobs on average is more to blame for that.
User avatar #30 to #29 - Lemonlulz (10/30/2013) [-]
Actually that .75:$1 ratio is for women and men in the same position, on average.

"The wage gap statistic, however, doesn’t compare two similarly situated co-workers of different sexes, working in the same industry, performing the same work, for the same number of hours a day. It merely reflects the median earnings of all men and women classified as full-time workers."

what was that?

that's one biased source v. countless statistically evidence.
User avatar #73 to #57 - blaazen (10/30/2013) [-]
how is that source biased when it's women that would benefit from evidence saying that there is inequality, when it's a woman that has written the article? (The Forbes article)

but. I posted two links.
User avatar #60 to #59 - Lemonlulz (10/30/2013) [-]
the second link discusses the current economy, it also doesn't deny that women receive less pay for equal work. It just says that men, basically because they earn more, have lost more by the lowering wages in this economic climate which... yes, they have if you're looking at percentages. 10% of 100 is more than 10% of .72.
#31 to #30 - taurusguy (10/30/2013) [-]
Well **** , that is not your job to fix, if you are working the same hours/job etc as a guy IN THE SAME COMPANY THEN you can complain. And besides, call me stupid, but is there seriously no law to regulate the paychecks in America or wherever this was taken? Because there sure as **** is in my country, whenever you get "abused" at work you can pretty much take them to court.
User avatar #34 to #31 - Lemonlulz (10/30/2013) [-]
there is, no one follows it....
User avatar #71 to #34 - blaazen (10/30/2013) [-]
How stupid are you? That sentence was totally false. If an employer (within the US) doesn't follow the equal opportunity laws within the US, then said employer can be sued to hell and back by every last person that was wronged and fined to hell and back by the government. If no one followed those laws, like you said, then that would mean that those employees that are being "oppressed" are ******* stupid for not speaking up.
