Pull keys to bottom. Slide under door. Problem solved unless you have a big ass keychain or something.

That usually won't work for outside doors, otherwise you'd never be able to keep the place warm in the winter.

I see your locking out story, and raise you this one:
My friend and I were in my dorm room, and we decided to go to his. When we got to his room, he realized he didn't have his keys, so we went back to mine. When we got to mine, I realized I didn't have mine. Our doors lock automatically. We locked our keys in each other's rooms. mfw

>Got new car (used to locking the door manually because of old car)
>Fucking keys on seat as I look in
>"yeah AAA, I need some help, locked my keys inside"
>$150 later and a walk up stairs
>Open door and hang keys... over the other... set of car keys...

I fuckin' did this when my lanyard caught my manual lock bolt in my car.

Slammed the door closed and swung the keys inside

I'm so happy I wasn't locked outside of a Lover's or some stupid store when this happened, too

ironically, having your keys in a lanyard around your neck is also the stupidest way to lock yourself out of any possible sex life too

i never got why people have those long things. It's very easy to reach for that hanging out of people's pockets and pulling the keys out or have them caught on something and losing your keys.

My fucking lanyard did the same thing, except I was carrying my dinner plate and glass of soda. I had no place to set either down to free myself and my fiance 5ft from me couldn't help but laugh...

I don't understand the point of those, why do you want your keys to be easy to steal? Also, this could happen, so it's a double whammy

If he locked the handle before shutting the door (only way to lock yourself out this way, as the keys are needed outside when the door is closed to lock it) then it's a simple matter of twisting the knob so hard it breaks against the lock mechanism.

Two weeks ago I went grocery shopping. When I got home I realized that my car keys and house keys weren't on the same chain car just got back from the shop . Since the rest of the family was in South Carolina which is about a 14 hour drive , I got to learn how to break into my own house. Then I got to explain to the cops that no, I really did live there.

I have all of my keys on a keyring that I keep in my pocket. If I get a new key, I throw the lanyard away, and add it to the ring. If I have too many keys, I get a second ring and put THAT on the original ring. Any time I've locket myself out, it's been because I legitimately forgot my keys. I've also never had issues that typically come with having a lanyard, namely people stealing it without e knowing, having it get caught on shit, or having the lanyard get in the way of normal function.

But I should totally get one because then I'll look fly!

As an RA at my school it's supposedly impossible to get locked out of your room since you don't have a roommate. However, I proved this to be false... I keep my key in my wallet so i don't have to carry around a stupid key chain/lanyard. I locked my door and as I'm fumbling to slide my key back into my wallet I accidentally drop it and simultaneously kick it underneath my door. My staff had a good laugh at this when I went to the front desk to report a lockout for myself. I'm now considered the only RA to ever lock himself out of his room.

being there doesn't appear to be a dead bolt just us an ID or something to open the door. With some practice you can open most doors faster that way than people can with the actual keys.

That's why it's better to have doors you have to lock yourself.
User avatar #6 - kualeifarne (10/07/2013) [-]
And this is why one shouldn't have automatic locking doors
