OK VG board, question time. What is your honest thought on pirating games?
To me, I do it quite a lot now mostly just knowing the fact that you can get a game for free instead of paying for it. Why pay for it? It helps the producer etc... But games are getting well over the top with the prices. How about you?

TL;DR : What's your opinion on pirating games?

Piracy is only OK if you genuinely can't get the game.
No, I don't mean money issues. I mean if the game wasn't released in your country, or the developer fucks over a certain group of people somehow and physically restricts them from getting the game legitimately.

I have done it several times, and the only thing I regret is that my computer isn't strong enough to play more stuff. I think games are too expensive to pay for anyways.

>Pirating about 2 years or more
>Probably pirated $13,000 worth of softwares/games

My opinion on pirating games is worth it, saves alot of money.

I do it mainly because I do not have a credit card and it is to much of a hastle to get steam cards, paypal cards, etc.
But if I did have a credit card, there's no doubt in my mind that I would not pirate games.

Only from big companies. I don't feel good pirating indie games.

I usually only pirate old games which I think is fine because they wouldn't make money off of me buying used games, but I don't really have a problem with pirating new games as long as you eventually buy it if you like it.

I think we all have to agree, It is Theft, it is wrong, we're taking something that doesn't belong to us for free that we really shouldn't have. But i did use the word 'we' because I have done it. Mainly because I don't have the money, want to see If i can run it, or old ROMs that you can't find anywhere but on Emulators. It has two sides I suppose, but no one should try dressing it up and calling it something it's not, if to legally acquire the game you have to pay for it, and you didn't pay for it, then it's theft. Don't pretend you're not doing something wrong.

I play console so I don't really have many options, but what PC games I do have I've bought them through steam. I've only pirated Fallout 3, NV, and Knights of the old republic 2, so I can't really give a fair opinion.
I have a decent job and no bills so I don't tend to pirate anything really simply because I have the money for it. That being said, the opposite could apply to many many more.
pic unrelated.
