I didn't believe it either until I looked into it. Video game consoles are banned in China because I guess it lets them communicate with people outside the glorious communist planet of China and the government doesn't like that idea or some shit.

Nah, i lived in China and it's to try to not make the same mistake as with WoW and CS and make a generation of gamers. There are even government sponsored anti-video-games summer camps. Kinda like american fat camps.

I personally don't see much wrong with a generation of gamers but whatever.

Btw...what exactly do they do at anti-videogame camps anyhow? NOT play videogames? Doesn't seem like the kind of thing you need an entire camp dedicated to.

it's because a strong number of chinese kids (which have a bad habit of turning hardcore gamers) tend to drop out of college even though the government pays them all credits, and just hang at home playing more and more. That's also a reason why you don't see Chinese contestants in MLG tournaments and competitions (plus, imagine a hundred times bigger South Korea full of addict gamers, that would shamble everything).

I think they mostly go camping, try to get back in touch with nature, etc.

I see. I play video games almost all day everyday (I'm 15, it's summer, can't drive, no job, poor family, I live miles away from the nearest town, not much else to do.) and I could never imagine dropping out of something as important as college just to play video games.
Maybe it's because I'm from a poor area and not many people here could afford to go to college even if they wanted to, but dropping out of college to just play video games in an extreme I could never see myself or anyone else I know doing. Hell, I want to go to college so I can make games, not just play them.
