Does anyone here play actual competitive TF2? Where people don't suck, the community is great, and it takes actual skill to kill people?

I play on TF2lobby sometimes. It's a good change from the usual not too coordinated matches.

You really should try it out. 2 Scouts, 2 Soldiers, 1 Medic, 1 Demoman = One of the most balanced, fast paced, team based games ever to come to the internet. Unless you play highlander, then youre a faggot

Wait really?
Highlander is one of the best things that exist!
It requires that every class, every player knows what to do, when to do it and how to do it. If you have a bad engie, your defense is fucked. If you have a bad pyro, your engie is fucked and your medic will possibly burn to death a thousand times. If you have a bad heavy, you're getting fucked by the enemy heavy, a bad scout and your spy won't get the deccoy he needs.
It needs much more coordination than ordinary 6vs6, which ends up being more about skill and not proper teamwork.

Highlander is a bit too individual based, and not enough team based. You can make a push without a few players, where in 6v6, you can't make a push with 2 teammates dead. Highlander is also way too slow. One of the reasons those 6 classes were chosen for 6v6 is that they are the fastest in the game. That means that 6v6 is much faster paced, which imo is much more fun.

TL;DR: 6v6 is more fast paced and team based, Highlander is much slower and individual based

Individual based?
Knowing that if the pyro won't do his work properly, you'll get raped by the spy and knowing that if you don't build that nest at the right sport at the right time, your team will be fucked by a counterpush is NOT individual based?
Maybe you don't see your team as often, fight with them on the frontlines, but everyone is dependant of each other.

In 6v6, you have to protect your medic and he has to heal you, not much more. If the demo dies? Firepower lost, but your medic will be protected by the pocketsoldier.

In highlander, if your pyro dies, the medic will be backstabbed, the others too busy to protect him from the front.
If the sniper dies and your team has a bad spy, your medic will get headshotted, or you will be trampled by an uber your sniper couldn't take out beforehand.

That's team based.

I was focusing on major movements. In highlander, you can push with only 6 players; the medic can only uber a few anyway. In 6v6, everyone needs to be alive for a push, or the push will easily fail.

Plus, highlander is still too slow

Yes, but for the whole team to succeed, everyone needs to do his job correctly. Obviously only the offensive classes push, ever seen a spy push? Me neither.
And I never said Highlander is fast, just that it is another good gamemode that requires more teamwork, while 6v6 needs more skill in general.

I'm going to stick to 6v6. What league are you in?
User avatar #5367 to #5358 - dispensa (04/15/2012) [-]
I'm in no league, like I said above to another person.
I just play TF2lobby sometimes, it isn't competitive, but it's a quick way to get a 6v6 or highlander game going.
Overall, I think I do enjoy the competitive system more than 12v12 dustbowl madness...the horror.
