Actually the first one was the most obvious one.
The girl in the second one pulled it off much better.

That's of course assuming that the blastocyst becomes a zygote and the zygote actually catches on to the uterine walls, furthermore assuming that the body doesn't reject the zygote if it even does become attached to the uterine wall.

The fact of the matter is everybody is different and everybody has an opinion. I think it's dumb to call a blastocyst or a zygote a human, they're a very simple small collection of cells with the possibility of being a person but to assume just because they are human cells and they are growing that automatically makes them human is silly(once again, in my mind).

Abortions are one of those touchy subjects that are just stupid. I don't see the point in not having abortion clinics available to those who choose to abort. I don't think I'd personally choose to abort if I was ever in that situation. That doesn't mean I don't think it should be available to others. I also think we should have "the right to die", the option to kill ourselves in a medically controlled environment instead of having to suffer for a lifetime.

I guess I'm just an asshole.
#105 - arneanka (06/24/2013) [-]
Not really, it need nutrition from something i.e. the mother. So... left sitting there - not much happening.

Furthermore, all of your non-keratinized epithelial cells lining the inner part of your cheek could become an individual. All hail induced stemcells <3

the acorn will turn into a tree if it simply sits, if the egg wasn't cracked it would turn into a chicken if it sat there (if there was heat)

the silk you're right

Actually, the acorn will probably turn into a sapling and continue into a tree if just left there with enough moisture, sunshine and warmth.

The egg could have turned into a chicken, but it was killed.

The silk won't turned into a dress unless we make a dress of it. - Just the same as a human egg won't turn it into a baby unless we make a baby out of it.

#71 - hailarty (06/24/2013) [-]
The egg and sperm won't continue to become a human unless the mother will eat food and drink water. So egg and sperm requires outside help to become something same as all of the other items listed.
#69 - anon (06/24/2013) [-]
It will turn into a human being if it is allowed to. At that point, though, no, it is not a 'person'. Nor do I personally believe it will be a person as an embryo. Nor do I personally believe it will be a person as a fetus.

A acorn can become a tree by "simply sitting there", it doesn't need to be buried in the ground.
#64 - anon (06/24/2013) [-]
Not if left sitting in the open like those other things your suggesting. If they were ALL nurtured in the correct manner they would grow. That egg and sperm would dry and crust within only a hour or so.
User avatar
#53 - pnesswrinkle (06/24/2013) [-]
it takes more than one sperm to break through the outer layer of the egg, this will become nothing
#51 - anon (06/24/2013) [-]
So you're saying that a working blueprint determines life... The 'egg' (if it was a legitimate bird or reptilian egg and fertile) would in fact be a working blueprint. Same with the acorn, if it was covered by dirt during a rainy day. So... way to go, you offered a valid argument and counterargument in the same statement...
#41 - sparkieemae (06/24/2013) [-]
An egg will turn into a chicken if it's mother sits tends and protects it, if she doesn't it dies an egg, the acorn will become a tree if it is put into the ground, protecting it from predators, and sun, where it will find nourishment and if it doesn't it dies an acorn, the silk will become a dress if processed and weaved and if someone has a template in demand for such a supply, if this doesn't happen it degrades as raw silk.

The egg and sperm will turn into a blastocyst, and then later a human fetus IF it has a womb to attach to, and receive nourishment, blood, oxygen, food, and protection from. If it doesn't have this, or if the person whom the blastocyst is attached to the womb of is an unconsenting party to the pregnancy in question, dies as the gametes they are.
#68 - anon (06/24/2013) [-]
The eggs we eat are not fertilized.
#228 - sparkieemae (06/24/2013) [-]

I knew that.

But okay.

This is relevant to nothing being said.
User avatar
#79 - qwertyuioplkjh (06/24/2013) [-]
Then why give it as an example if it's not fertilized? makes no sense.
User avatar
#40 - Riukanojutsu (06/24/2013) [-]
the sperm and egg alone(no uterus, no nothign) wont do this though
User avatar
#35 - snaresinger (06/24/2013) [-]
Let's put it this way. NONE of them will turn into a baby if just left sitting there. Don't act like the egg and sperm will.
User avatar
#32 - snaresinger (06/24/2013) [-]
The egg simply requires warmth.
The acorn simply requires dirt and water.
The sperm requires an ovum.

They are not so different. Don't act like the fourth is much more lifelike when the first two are actually much closer to life than the fourth.
#28 - anon (06/24/2013) [-]
The egg must be kept warm in a nest.
The acorn must be kept moist in the ground.
The silk must be molded in a factory. (Or whatever.)
The egg and sperm must be inside a human body to develop. If the mass of cells is removed prior and is left to "sit", then it won't turn into a baby. It can't survive outside of the womb on its own, meaning that it is not independent life at the time of conception. (Just like the chicken egg sitting out, or the acorn on the ground, or the silk left on a leaf.)

#27 - anon (06/24/2013) [-]
Yup, sperm + egg then blastocyst then eventually baby. Your knowledge clearly is up to par and I will definitely consider your opinion of when life and viability begins. And why do you think an acorn can't become a tree?

Only if it persists as a parasite for nine months in a host that may or may not want a parasite living in its uterus.
User avatar
#30 - commontroll (06/24/2013) [-]
Actually, parasites have no benefit for their host, and having a baby inside you is basically a nine month high due to all the dopamine and stuff that your body releases.
User avatar
#33 - snaresinger (06/24/2013) [-]
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha okay, yeah, being pregnant is definitely easy on the mother. Yeah, it's definitely an overall benefit to her body. Hahahahahahahahahaha

I'm not saying it's not shitty at times, I'm just sayin' that the reason that women go and have more kids is because their body releases a shit ton of chemicals to make her happier.
User avatar
#36 - snaresinger (06/24/2013) [-]
We put up with a parasite because of biological imperative. That dopamine is just a female body's way of convincing her to willingly take on a parasite.
User avatar
#38 - commontroll (06/24/2013) [-]
I'm just saying she's getting something out of it, thus not a truly parasitic relationship. Besides, that parasite will take care of her when she's shitting her diapers.
