No. I won't. I'm tired of writing this shitty, useless kind of description. Most people don't give a shit anyways.

Ah, fantastic. So when i log onto my shitty gamesforwindowslive account and play and lay down a sign in the right level range, you'll just be able to see it? Even the coop system is vague and weird

TheThinkingAtheist had some interesting podcasts, but it doesnt really do it for me. As a citizen of Skandinavia i can't relate to most of them, and the others i just dont care about. I already read game of thrones. Talking about that and lore, youtube comicbookgirl19 Game of thrones. She has some fantastic lore videos on the houses up atm

I dont know shit about computers. Seriously.
when one who claims to draw meets another who claims to draw, images shall be posted. We can continue this on either of usses profiles since this is getting less and less related to dark souls lore and thus the original thread
And yes please. Things like science, gamegrumps or enb or what the hell ever. I'm quite picky though, as i need to like both the voices, content and people

You seem to share my affinity for youtubers. All of whom you've listed here, I actively watch. TJ is cool, but the problem, like you said, is that it's not as relevant to us.

If you got a Skype, that would be even easier. Exchanges can be had in more private sectors.

As for Dark Souls, yes. But the game uses a Peer 2 Peer system, so even if the sign is down, it no guarantee that you'll see it at once. that's why I use the connection mod to have my friends be prioritized for connections.

ENB is just fantastic to just listen to while drawing. Sadly i've exhausted those videos. Do you know any other youtuber with a nice voice who is just nice to listen to?

Ahh i'm not entirely sure how the summoning system works outside of the game. I had to download (Directed entirely by a friend) something which allowed for it to summon him. Currently i will be unable to play with him, so having a pocket summon could be nice. If it works out, that is. I live in denmark, in case you need to know that for the summon system thing. Might take some time before my laptop can run it. Considering just resetting it to factory mode. Everything is wrong with it

I live in Norway, so such a big problem, it can't be. There is a mod thing that makes it easier to summon people on your friends list. But generally you have to be in +-10% of the other's level range to see their signs or interact with them in game at all.

Oh, you listen to ENB while drawing too? Oh man!
I often listen to podcasts while drawing as well. Sometimes it's TheThinkingAtheist radio podcast, and sometimes I listen to MY Audiobooks of Game of Thrones.

Linus from "Linus Tech tips" is also rather decent to listen to, but the only long videos he has is his pc build guides.
I like to have long videos up cus then I won't have to interrupt my drawing session to change video all that often.
I could sift through my subscription list and link you to some people who is nice as bg noise when drawing, sure :3

Vaati is the best. I have just decided to take his interpretations as the story. Man, without such a great community, none of dark souls lore would have actually been uncovered. If one didnt know, one could play the whole game and assume there was no plot, and that all the hints were just written out of their ass
User avatar #269 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
And that would've been a terribly boring game to be sure.
I would also suggest you look up ENB or "Epic Namebro" on youtube, but I'm pretty sure you've seen him as well. Probably for playthroughs. He often talks about lore while playing, and has a few lore videos of his own.

If you ever feel like playing the game, though, it could be fun to do some cooperative playing. Me and one of my friends used to summon each other for every section for a few playthrough where our characters looked the same, save for the faces. Some of my best gaming memories in recent times.

Oh dont even bring that up. It's such a hopeless case and you just cant save unionbro..
And he gave Sif the shield to try and protect him. Whenever you bring dogs into something, it just gets sad..

You can save him, in a sense. If he survives the fight against the vacuum monsters (Yes I call them vacuum cleaners) You'll find him in The great hollow with his daughter. But you already know this. He's hollowed and died. HAving watched Vaati you know about the same as I do on the subject.

Artorias did break his arm, though, it's very apparent in the boss fight, as it just hangs there, useless.

Try murdering Sif without feeling bad. Or realize that Queelag just wanted to ease her dear sisters pain. Dont even think about murdering Priscilla instead of just leaving. What did Dark Sun Gwyndolin ever really do to you? It's also sad how killing Ceaseless and Gwyn and Artorias and Pinwheel is the only way to end their suffering. Fucking hell this game likes to mess with you. I saw this interesting sad theory video on why Pinwheel looks so weird and why he is so easy to defeat, and it kind of broke my heart

The vagueness is good indeed. Makes you feel like you really were dropped in the world and left to figure out things as you discover items
User avatar #265 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
Yeah, all those bosses are really just doing things for someone else's good. Sif tries to stop you from Unleashing the Darkwraiths and Kaathe again.

Pinwheel. That theory, was it about how he carries the burden of the rest of his family or something? It's been a long time, I think it was Vaati who had the video on him.

Not to mention friggin Sigmeyer and his daughter.

Artorias couldn't fight the Humanity sprites in Oolacile, so after breaking his arm he lost himself after saving Sif. So damn sad.

I am a moron about names when i don't feel like remembering them. I know bout him. Didnt have them scales, was jelly, help out Gwyn, got research of madness, made that crystal stuff and all that. I've watched playthrough and lore videos. There is little to spoil.

I do have it for pc. Tried out the keyboard controls, gave up like 10 meters into the game, got a controller and I'm not getting used to that. I don't care much for the graphics or framerate unlocker since my laptop needs to have it as easy as possible.

This game is so vague. How will the world be in the age of Man? The age of the Lords looks so much warmer and brighter and shit. Its a really interesting concept to have humanity born from darkness
User avatar #259 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
Ah, so then I need to have no fear. Good.
Well, the Controller controls, are very easy to remember once you've played for a little bit. It becomes habit eventually, at least in my case.

The game looks perfectly fine without the mod, but I like looking at Hollows' faces when I stab them in the back :3

But.. But it's the vagueness that makes it so awesome! It allows for a great deal of spculation, and in truth, it led to a very strong community around the game. Personally, I think the darkness seems like a more interesting thing, because we all know how a 'light' world is. A dark world doesn't necesarilly mean 'cold and murderous' but simply that the dark beings now rule. Doesn't mean they're evil.

Though at several instances I felt like I was the bad guy all along.

I know a ridiculous amount of lore and secrets and tidbits for a game i have yet to play. I kinda doubt it will shield me, though..

It does look shitty to be linked to that flame, and that tension of 'Everything will fade and die and suck' and trying to linger to such a fading hope sounds too exhausting. I don't really know about these mustachioed serpent fuckers, i sure as hell would want them outta my sight. another design i find weird is naked crystal dragons weird little tentacly legs. They look like the ones of severely overweight people
User avatar #252 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
Oh, and I forgot. It won't really suck, because it's the Ancient lords who feared the darkness. You need to think of it as the end of the God's age, and the beginning of the humans'.
User avatar #251 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
Man, I could tell you so SO much about this stuff x.x I've logged about 400 hours of gametime since last March.

I highly recommend you play it, but get it for the Pc. You can get some Mod for it that makes it look a lot sharper than it would otherwise.
Also, I'm totes willing to help ya out with it. Right now, I'm just waiting for Dark Souls 2, and I've filled my character list to the brim with different builds.

The dragon would be Seath the Scaleless. But I don't want to spoil anything before you get to play it properly yourself. Though very little is told directly to your face, unless you explore dialogues and item descriptions.

Seriously.

Everything is wrong with it
User avatar #273 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
I live in Norway, so such a big problem, it can't be. There is a mod thing that makes it easier to summon people on your friends list. But generally you have to be in +-10% of the other's level range to see their signs or interact with them in game at all.

Oh, you listen to ENB while drawing too? Oh man!
I often listen to podcasts while drawing as well. Sometimes it's TheThinkingAtheist radio podcast, and sometimes I listen to MY Audiobooks of Game of Thrones.

User avatar #258 - daentraya (02/18/2014) [-]

User avatar #261 - daentraya (02/18/2014) [-]

User avatar #266 - daentraya (02/18/2014) [-]
VaatiVidya. You can just rewatch the video

User avatar #267 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
You can save him, in a sense. If he survives the fight against the vacuum monsters (Yes I call them vacuum cleaners) You'll find him in The great hollow with his daughter. But you already know this. He's hollowed and died. HAving watched Vaati you know about the same as I do on the subject.

Artorias did break his arm, though, it's very apparent in the boss fight, as it just hangs there, useless.

The dragon would be Seath the Scaleless. But I don't want to spoil anything before you get to play it properly yourself. Though very little is told directly to your face, unless you explore dialogues and item descriptions.

User avatar #261 - daentraya (02/18/2014) [-]

User avatar #266 - daentraya (02/18/2014) [-]
VaatiVidya. You can just rewatch the video

Oh dont even bring that up. It's such a hopeless case and you just cant save unionbro..
And he gave Sif the shield to try and protect him. Whenever you bring dogs into something, it just gets sad..

Ah, fantastic. So when i log onto my shitty gamesforwindowslive account and play and lay down a sign in the right level range, you'll just be able to see it? Even the coop system is vague and weird

User avatar #272 - daentraya (02/18/2014) [-]
ENB is just fantastic to just listen to while drawing. Sadly i've exhausted those videos. Do you know any other youtuber with a nice voice who is just nice to listen to?

Ahh i'm not entirely sure how the summoning system works outside of the game. I had to download (Directed entirely by a friend) something which allowed for it to summon him. Currently i will be unable to play with him, so having a pocket summon could be nice. If it works out, that is. I live in denmark, in case you need to know that for the summon system thing. Might take some time before my laptop can run it. Considering just resetting it to factory mode. Everything is wrong with it
User avatar #273 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
I live in Norway, so such a big problem, it can't be. There is a mod thing that makes it easier to summon people on your friends list. But generally you have to be in +-10% of the other's level range to see their signs or interact with them in game at all.

Oh, you listen to ENB while drawing too? Oh man!
I often listen to podcasts while drawing as well. Sometimes it's TheThinkingAtheist radio podcast, and sometimes I listen to MY Audiobooks of Game of Thrones.

Linus from "Linus Tech tips" is also rather decent to listen to, but the only long videos he has is his pc build guides.

Vaati is the best. I have just decided to take his interpretations as the story. Man, without such a great community, none of dark souls lore would have actually been uncovered.

While i do like the game, i can still see why the community is perhaps a bit too worshippy and obsessed with it, and i think that's why people have some disliking towards the game. Saying 'hurr durr u just cant beat it' only further reinforces that, as they see this response differently than you
User avatar #223 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
I can agree with what you're saying, and while I have some critique for the game myself, mostly that they seem to carry over a lot of assets and stuff from previous installations. In this case Demons souls -> Dark Souls.

But in my case, the reason I love the game is mostly from a game designers standpoint. It's a very cleverly made game, with an incredibly deep combat system and a very mysterious and secluded lore. It's a lot more than what many AAA titles can say for themselves nowadays, which is why I feel it deserves a lot of the praise Though not the obsessive worship it gets.
User avatar #227 - daentraya (02/18/2014) [-]
Yep. Just be careful with that 'hurr u just cant beat it u casual' kind of response. I'd hate for this game to actually be disliked like that, and anything that gets love on the internet will have some smucks who'll hate it just for that reason
User avatar #228 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
I never use 'hurr u casul' about anyone, unless it's in game, and the player in question uses a cheat engine or similar. It's a game that takes a different mindset than most others, because it's so punishing.
User avatar #229 - daentraya (02/18/2014) [-]
It really does. I don't know what a casual (I play games in a silly fashion for shits and giggles) is doing with a copy of that game. I haven't been able to play it yet because of some laptop issues, but fucking hell i will step out of the Kiln of the first flame like a reborn player, and then aint nobody gon call me casual against my will
User avatar #231 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
A'casual' in gaming terms is just a player who plays casually. Who don't play a game for the best rankings or scores, or try to beat it at all. Maybe they just play it for recreation when they have time. It's not really a bad thing. It's just become a term to be used by bigoted gamers and the like.

Beating the game's final boss is extremely satisfying. But only one of the endings are.
Strangely enough, the 'bad' one is the better one.

User avatar #233 - daentraya (02/18/2014) [-]
I don't see the big problem with casuals. Unless, of course, a gaming company tries to appeal to them and makes a beautiful follow arrow click click eat click click game, where lots of potential is wasted..

Both endings are bad. The light is going to fade anyway. I want the title of Dark Lord for the hell of it. ALL HAIL DARK LORD ME also what the actual fuck did they have in mind with that meat mustache serpant grin face, it looks atrocious as fuck
User avatar #240 - zuflux (02/18/2014) [-]
That's where Casual gamers are at fault I guess. Because game companies find it easier to make a game that holds your hand through the whole game.
The "Yeah, I get it" factor is higher than Olympus mons, I tell ya what. MArs Reference, hurr.

The 'sacrifice yourse'f ending is to me the bad one. But becoming the dark lord and technically the lord of humanity As Humans technically are born of the dark And you get all these mustachioed serpent perverts to stalk you around. I loved that.

AS for The Serpents themselves, I have absolutely Zero idea about wtf they were smoking when they decided upon that design. But it's funny as shit to see his mustaches derp around when Frampt wakes up from slumber.
User avatar #246 - daentraya (02/18/2014) [-]

I totally understand the community aspect of religion. We are after all, social creatures.
And in modern society, which has strived for individualism, it's not hard to see why Churches are one of the last remaining entities for social cohesion.

However, it pains me to know how little attention modern Christians pay to the Bible. I mean, it literally says that if you're rich you're automatically going to hell; it's essentially proto-communism, which, hilariously, pisses "Christians" off the most.
So that's why there cannot be religion without dogmatism. Or, rather, mass-organized religion
If people read the Bible they would see that their religious and cultural leaders embody all that the Bible condemns, especially Pat Robertson.
Not only that, but religious leaders openly condemn thinking for oneself; they disregard science as the 'devil', and claim we should hate those who don't believe their draconian dogmatic propaganda. They even used the Bible to first condone slavery, then to condemn it.
I wish they would give people the chance to be free (for me freedom is also negative as well as positive [in Berlin's definitions]); so one needs to be free from not only external physical constraint, but from internal, mental captivity.

But then we get the fedora faggots; they can't see that those who are religious are suffering the worst kind of fate; they will never understand that for someone to profess a devotion to a metaphysical being, they are really professing a deep mental enslavement.
I don't hate religious followers, nor even the pastors who perpetuate the cycle of ignorance - I feel for them, for it's not their fault that their upbringing involved daily indoctrination.
We need to emancipate those shackled to religion with empathy, not pseudo-superiority.
Plus, fedora-faggots are just as enslaved to their ego and unjustified-pride, as those religious folk are to dogmatism.
User avatar #264 - zuflux (02/17/2014) [-]
Psudo-intellectual Fedora-tippers aside, I have to inject that many 'pastors' are only using faith as a means to earn money. There are a few of them out there, but I can't ever remember names.
However, as much as I'd wish that every religious person out there was a slave to their own ignorance and fear, there are those who will use their faith to push forth stupid laws and rules based entirely on an ancient book written over hundreds of years by individual people, whom most or all had at best second hand testimonies for their writing. I think, even back then, what they did they did for their own sakes.

But for the religiously brainwashed, who have not actually read the bible, save for maybe a verse or two from the 'friends and love' chapters while taking a dump, there are people exiting their faith, or in the least having seeds of doubt sowed in them after taking it upon themselves to read the bible, and maybe seek out new information from people like Christopher Hitchens and Krauss.

Sadly a lot of believers do not want to be exposed to these sorts of wonders for the fear of being 'led into the hands of the devil' because that's what they've been taught.

I live in Norway, and therefore I haven't seen these types of things first hand, but I did react to some celeb writing in our newspaper that "I didn't think it made sense, that everything was just chemical reactions" and while that might not invoke much reactions in the states, I nearly had to slam my forehead into the table because I couldn't believe someone would even say such a thing.

idk, I think the idea of having an unwavering faith in a belief is a determent. Not only to the individual themselves, but to people as a whole. These are our future scientists, geneticists, doctors, aerospace engineers, ect. If you aren't open to learning about the world because of a belief you hold so firmly that you will never give it up no matter what (whether that belief comes from religion, or any other source), then you are basically cutting yourself off from a part of the world and countless possible discoveries and inventions. And if you teach kids to think the same way you do, then you are cutting them off from that part of the world too. The most notable example I can think of this is during the Nye vs Ham debate. When asked "what would it take to change you mind", Nye said evidence, and Ham said he would never change his mind, even if he was proven to be wrong. I'm not saying that all religion is bad, or that all bad things come from religion. I do think that unwavering and unjustified 'faith' is a bad thing though - we should try to understand the world as it is through discoveries and science.

I hope I don't get called a neckbeard, or a fedorafag or whatever. I am an atheist, and I don't really like how whenever an atheist mentions something their point is immediately dismissed because they are an atheist. I try not to do that to religious people, or anyone else for that matter, and I think its unfair and dishonest to do it.
User avatar #290 - riventhexile (02/17/2014) [-]
I LIKE YOU, I LIKE YOU A LOT! As a Lutheran I can tell you that religious people believe that they are in the morally right (doesn't everyone?) so we should spread our beliefs as far as possible so everyone can enjoy them! right?

This is going to be more of an explanation of why religious people do what they do, so read on if you are interested. They believe in (or at least my sect does) that god saved everyone when jesus died on the cross and along with that he said (i'm paraphrasing here) that all you have to do to be forgiven of all of the bad things you've ever done, all you have to do is believe in him and you will be saved. Seems pretty simple right? He also asked all believers to go out and make more believers out of everyone else. So yeah religious people (christians especially) have a thing for going out and butting into other peoples affairs, and they don't always do it in a nice way either (:C)

So when it comes to having a debate between a scientist and a creationist you get what happened at the bill nye v ham debate. You also get people who, like you said don't want to open their mind to world and what really happens in it. Be it either scientist or creationist alike.

i guess i kinda just jerked my own dick here. hoped I contributed in some way....

But that's the only way religion survives.
Why do you think we've had a stagnation in new religions in the past couple of centuries?
Because those in power used religion to legitimize their power: A Catholic priest uses the Bible to stay in power. Imagine if they didn't tell people to believe what they do or they'll go to hell: no one would listen to them, because fuck listening to a peado telling me that I'm going to hell because I talked to a woman on her period.
User avatar #248 - zuflux (02/17/2014) [-]
That kinda logic just doesn't make any kind of sense to me.
And what makes me wonder the most is the absolute absence of any kind of miracles in modern day, and the fact that all these doomsdays that was going to come over the centuries never happened.

But as a podcast host I listen to often has said: Many go to church simply for the community. Some local communities will avoid you if you proclaim yourself an atheist, and for them, that little bubble for self indulging lies is very comfortable to them, because it doesn't challenge their world view or teach them to think for themselves.

Besides, the thought of dying being the end is very frightening to some people.
And then there's Hell, of course. What baffles me, though, is how m,any megachurches take donations for good fortune, to such an extent that it's blatantly obvious that it's all just to get rich. None of these people actually convey the bible's supposed 'love and friendship' story.

I smoked every day for a long time. Then one day I decided I didn't really want to anymore, so I stopped. Never felt any 'withdrawal' or cravings or anything.
Hell, getting off oxycodone after taking it for only a week following a bad injury was was an ordeal.
User avatar #45 - gayboard (02/17/2014) [-]
You can get addicted to marijuana.

There are a lot of addictions that are primarily psychological, something that doesn't have any type of drug or chemical in it that makes you addicted. I'm addicted to caffeine, so I go through a 12 pack of soda in about 3 days.
#67 - amuzen (02/17/2014) [-]
One might argue that it's a misleading use of the word addiction since marijuana is more like an addiction to games or fastfood than it is like an addiction to crack or alchohol which is what it's far more commonly associated with.

People shouldn't say OMG WHY IS ALCHOHOL LEGAL AND MARIJUANA NOT? ALCHOHOL IS SO MUCH WOOOOOORSE FOR YOU!

they should say OMG WHY IS CANDY LEGAL AND MARIJUANA NOT? CHOCOLATE IS SO MUCH WOOOOOOORSE FOR YOU!

Sure, the Mental addiction on my part are the few days post-smoking that I wish I had some weed, because suddenly the world becomes a boring place.

Without going into the plethora of personality disorders and mental issues that can cause harmless drugs like weed, lsd or psilocybin to wreck havoc in your head because of a predisposition, I firmly believe that 'soft' drugs are better than say, alchohol.

As for Caffeine addiction, I don't have that problem, but I have several friends who complained about extreme headaches and fatigue once they ran out of tea, coffee, coke, anything that had concentrations of caffeine.

idk, I think the idea of having an unwavering faith in a belief is a determent.

The mormons here are surprisingly nice about that kinda thing. Sure it's annoying when they knock but they're polite and professional whenever I talk to one.
User avatar #254 - zuflux (02/17/2014) [-]
That's what nice about Mormons. Sure, the church itself is not a great place, but at least they know how to be great neighbours. I've never heard anyone tell me that their mormon neighbours are 'fucking assholes'
User avatar #244 - learnthisline (02/17/2014) [-]
