yes. that is true.
I also feel like it almost moonwalks whenenver you wanna get close to it.
I saw it move away without moving its legs. I get the "control the wind" but still, its infuriating.

I realise my reply was a little hasty, but my point was that despite some enemies have hitboxes that feel a little weird, I can't think of any out of the top of my head. The King of Storms, a huge birdlike dragon can more or less only be killed in Melee combat by hitting the neck and head. And because it's so slender and moves so much, it's real hard to hit.

from what I can gather Pontiff Sulyvahn and his Knights were part of the Cathedral of the Deep. It's stated in his soul that he "imprisoned a god of the old royalty in an abandoned cathedral, to be fed to the devourer". It seems that Irithyll was ruled over by some kind of royal family, perhaps somehow distant descendants or followers of Gwyn and his family (and who go extinct when you kill the Dancer of the Boreal Valley). But were overthrown by Pontiff Sulyvahn and the Cathedral of the Deep who worshiped Aldrich as a deific figure who would devour the old gods and bring about an Age of the Deep.

Not to mention Pontiff is a religious title, and in the real world is mostly used to refer to the Pope though it can technically refer to any Bishop. So it'd seem he's the Cathedral of the Deep's leader, too.
