I've heard people say things like this, but I fail to see incredibly large holes. Any way you could point some out for me?

they arent easy to notice if you are a casual movie fan. i go to school for film so its kinda easier to dissect a film. but ok. the sense of time is fucked during the parallel editing sequence towards the end, around where joseph gordon levitt frees the trapped policemen. nolan was very successful doing similar sequences in previous films such as inception. not so much her. isnt bane supposed to be of Hispanic decent? banes voice was recorded multiple times, with and without the mask, and that made the audio confusing at times. i counted at least 3 times where bane's voice did not come from the direction that bane was. for such a high budget film, they should not have problems in the audio mix like that. but that's just a few examples. I did not hate the film. it was entertaining. I think Nolan could have dont much better. I loved the first 2. I think he just wanted it to be great, and it wasnt. it was good. 6.5/10 for me.

Oh, I assure you, I am no casual Batman fan. He took the sense of time in the ending sequence directly from the Bond movies (especially the Pierce Brosnan ones). None of it was a mistake; it is continuously flashing between characters, showing the events that are all happening at ONE time. You can't show three action sequences on screen at once, you know. Bane is Hispanic in the books; also in the books, Two-Face has acid splashed into his face (not oil), Ra's al Ghul is Middle Eastern (and immortal), Talia al Ghul has Batman's son (who becomes the 5th Robin), etc. Nolan created a universe BASED on the books, not a copy of them. As to Bane's voice, the only explanation I can give is that he is meant to be a gigantic intimidating force of a character, so he needed a full voice that would give off that feeling; that's why his voice seems to come from every direction whenever he talks. 10/10 for me.

i understand what parallel editing is. many MANY MANNNNNNY films have done it. not just the bond films. what im saying is the way he did it made it seem as if they WERENT happening at once, which was the problem. I understand that they are based on the books, so ill ill give you that one, but did bane HAVE to be white and have an english accent? they could have cast better there IMO. and the thing is, the voice directional problem did not happen ALL the time. it happened 3 times. the rest of the time, his voice was mumbled and i couldnt understand what he was saying. if a character is on the left side of the screen, the sound of his voice should not come from the right. you cannot just make up reasons for why the film has flaws and call them intentional character traits. it does not work like that.

Well, we'll just agree to disagree on point number one and two (I thought the scene in question was fine, as well as Tom Hardy as Bane) and I noticed it basically throughout the whole movie... In much of the film, certain sounds are dropped out completely (the crowd during the National Anthem would NEVER be that silent, etc.) and others are displaced. These things are not accidental. There are no botches in this movie; understand that not only was this franchise a fan favorite and a cash cow, but this final movie had to be damn good for those fans to be satisfied and Warner Bros. to get their money. It's a damn fine film.

Still I see no major plot holes. Your argument is invalid.

1. contrived romance between bruce wayne and miranda tate in order to have a reason for bruce to tell her where the reactor is. 2. really? he survived the nuke? i guess.... i wouldve liked him to die. 3. Nobody realizes that batman AND the billionaire Bruce Wayne, who has all the resources and motivation to be batman, are the same person when they BOTH die on the same day?! thats not really a hole but COME ON. the problem with this film werent the plot holes, because they were few and miniscule. it was that they expected me to care about all these new characters, and i didnt. the characters were merely cogs in order to move from point A to point B. they did not have much depth because they only served their singular function. Selina: sexy girl who kinda helps batman. Bane: hulking mastermind who wants to break things. Blake: earnest cop looking for answers.....you get the point

1) He fucking told her where it is so that Dagget wouldn't control the company and she would instead.
2) He fucking plans for everything, including fixing the auto pilot six months before his "death." Fox asks technicians how he could've fixed it, they tell him someone already did. Bruce Wayne cleared the software patch six months ago.
3) MANY billionaires died during Bane's rule. That's the whole fucking point of the revolution. Is it that implausible that Bruce would die? Very few people even saw him during that time; only Selina Kyle, Fox, and Miranda Tate.
4) It's a fucking adaptation of years and years of comics. If you went into that theater with no background knowledge of Catwoman or Bane, you're a) stupid and b) still going to understand the movie for the most part. That's ALL the characters needed to be. It wasn't meant to spell it out for you; movie go-ers are supposed to figure out what's going to happen to them all after it ends. It's not just explosions and justice. If you wanted that, you should've just stuck with Avengers.

Didn't Batman use the auto pilot that Lucius Fox was working on to survive in the end? That's why when Fox asked, they said that Bruce Wayne had checked it out? He didn't just survive a nuclear blast. Please correct me if I'm wrong. This is of course assuming that you didn't know that already.
User avatar
#138 - yuvabuv (07/26/2012) [-]
fox told bruce earlier that the auto pilot didnt work. thats why he had to drive it himself. batman later told selina that the auto pilot didnt work. and later when they were attaching the bomb to the batwing and everybody was all, "batman! dont go, youll die!", he again said the auto pilot didnt work, so hed have to take it himself. so, to tell you the truth, idk man. maybe fox was just fuckin with batman

I'm thinking that Bruce checked it out secretly, fixed it, installed it, but then told everyone that it still didn't work to convince them that he really did die in the blast. Lucius didn't know until the very end. Lucius even said that his mind was too occupied to fix it, and that he hoped Bruce would instead.
User avatar
#146 - yuvabuv (07/26/2012) [-]
see, when you start making up parts of the story to fix it, thats when you got a plot hole. basic rule of filmmaking: if you didnt see it happen, and you didnt hear it happen, it didnt happen.
#144 - penguinsaresexy (07/26/2012) [-]
it says at the end that "bruce wayne" put in a software patch that fixed the autopilot. and lucius smiles. it was his way of throwing them off, because he knew it was his way of an escape from that life after the city went back to normal, like alfred wanted him to
