ah the movie that stole every single award in 2012, and even caused its special effects studio to go bankrupt and shut down

no idea either, but it annoyed the hell out of me that there were far far far better movies that year (woman in black, avengers, etc.) but life of pi because it was artsy

"Was it good?"
"No idea... but there were better..."
Dude if you didn't watch it how can you say other stuff was better?

I did watch it, I liked it,

Also, the year you say it stole "every single award" it won 4,
Argo beat it on Best Picture
And Lee got Director for Life of Pi over Beasts of the Southern Wild, Silver Linings Playbook, Amour
and Lincoln, never even seen Southern Wild and Amour but I liked Lincoln and was rooting for Spielberg
None of the actors/actresses got nominated for the four best actor/ress supporting categories.
It lost adapted screenplay to Argo.
Obviously didn't get nominated for original screenplay since it was adapted for film, Django won that one.
It wasn't an animated feature, Brave won.
It wasn't foreign language, which Amour won (may have to check that one out to see what the fuss is.)
Wasn't a documentary. Searching for Sugar Man (no idea).
Life of Pi won Cinematography, which yeah I can see that, since the whole movie was a constant torrent of visual effects sunrise/sunset colorful animal vast vistas and whatnot.
Didn't get nominated for costume, which is sad, that tiger looked good.
Lost film editing to Argo.
Wasn't nominated for makeup.
Lost Production Design to Lincoln (Woo Spielberg!).
Won Original Score, which, dude yeah the music was pretty as fuck.
Lost Original Song to "Skyfall" from Skyfall which also beat Les Miserables, a fucking musical. (Adelle man, she's a beast).
Sound editing it lost to Zero Dark Thirty and Skyfall who tied.
Lost Sound Mixing to Les Miserables.
Won Visual Effects over The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Avengers, Prometheus, and Snow White and the Huntsman, haven't seen snow white but all the ones in the category I have seen were mad eye candy, hard for me to pick, my guess is Life of Pi got it because of the fact the film was predominantly visual effects, like 300 and shit.
And the last three it wasn't nominated for were the animated/live action/documentary shorts, so obviously.

Anywho, if you haven't seen it, I recommend checking it out, it was pretty cool, I hadn't watched it until I found the bluray for five bucks at Walmart.

With all the accusations of "whitewashing" and stuff during awards I just get annoyed when people hyperbolize about this shit, so hope I was able to help.
