Yeah you're not wrong there. Repetitive as fuck and still coming. My idea of a good MMO would be Monster Hunter but they're very averse to bringing that to market in the US. Something skill based with rewards that don't get completely obliterated in the next patch. I think there are ways to do it to where game play is fun and unique but you can still play the same job. Look at Diablo for instance, you can re spec or find different gear and play the same class with a completely different experience 14 has no horizontal progression which sucks. That and they kind of dropped the ball on MCH which is why I unsubbed.

Eh, I feel like making a game revolve around hallways with 3 circular zones, avoiding orange and mashing 1-9 or whatever your bindings are with the utmost efficiency could be replaced with -something- interesting.

Again. MMO's, dude. Sometimes the formula changes, but in the end it's all repetitive gameplay. Look at WoW. 11 years of being top dog and making millions and million of dollars for being exactly what you dislike about XIV. Every MMO regardless of innovation is going to be "Press your skills in the most efficient way to do high numbers and doge the thing that would hurt you" either in the open world or in a linear dungeon. That's just how they work. If you can think of something better, you should definitely make it a game and maybe you'll even topple the giants.
