- I have to make a point that most of what you said is ******** …
Here are some facts for you people that like to pretend white people don't have it easier;
A 2007 study from the U.S. Department of Education shows 64% of American college students are white
2008 study conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that Latinos have a 7.6% unemployment rate and African Americans have an 11% unemployment rate (much higher today) Whites, however, top out at 5.5% (men only study)
Now lets talk Health Insurance in a 2006-2007 study taken from an older textbook of mine titled "Challenges to Native American Advancement" by Dedrick Muhammad.
White's without Health insurance - 10.6%
African Americans - 20%
Hispanic - 33.1 %
The first fact is because 66% of Americans are white, so it doesn't show anything significant.
The other two indicate higher poverty among Latino and Black Americans, which can be attributed to a various factors.
then where are these college graduate minorities in the work force? Why is their unemployment so high?It's cause the fuckin system is racist and a white guy will always get a call back first. Affirmative action is not always properly represented. The facts are in front of you, I can just copy and paste more tables if you really desire
Maybe you're right. But just because unemployment is high among certain racial minorities doesn't necessarily mean racism is keeping them down. Your stats are interesting but don't imply any sort of causation.
Consider this: people tend to self-segregate, and historically disadvantaged minorities do it even more. Black people, for instance, identify as part of the Black ethnic group and many of them adhere to "black culture", which is distinct from the "mainstream culture". This is understandable giving historical slavery, then imposed segregation, and now self-segregation.
It's also understandable that such a group will eschew the values of its historical oppressors, and today there exists an unfortunately prevalent "ghetto culture" that encourages laziness, crime, irreverence, racial nationalism, irresponsibility, and a sense of entitlement. Many black people grow up in this culture or feel compelled to adhere to it, and it influences them. That would partly explain the higher unemployment, lower education, higher poverty, higher birth rate, higher crime rate, etc. that we see.
In turn, the sort of behavior that this culture creates is observed by others and used as a basis for racism.
So that's my theory.
Just to strengthen xxtinytonybellxx's point, this is all true in America, too. A lot of white kids can't go to college because they lack the funds. ALL scholarships favor minorities, and then there are programs that aim specifically AT minorities. Trust me, minority-on-white racism is more common nowadays than white-on-minority racism.
Every sociology study ever done ever proves that white people have a higher employment, callback, and interview rate than any minority when it comes to any job that is non-labor related. Take a college course kid.
Really? Every sociology study ever? Have you read EVERY ONE EVER? Shut the fuck up, then. You are full of shit and you know it. The only reason that whites have a higher employment rate is that a lot of minorities feel entitled to government assistance and do not try to get jobs/an education because of it.
