Second person uses words like "you" "your" and "yours" so by not using such words in a narration, you avoid it.

point of view describes the angle of point of perspective a story is told from, like first person, second person, third person, and such. Unreliable narrator is usually a type of first person narration

Who in the hell had the idea "lets make it a legal tradition to kidnap a young woman, forcibly have sex with her, stow her away for 30 days and go back and be like "sorry for raping your daughter, wanna be my in-laws?" Of course, it probably wouldn't be exactly like that, but that still sounds fucking horrifying. History is magical and scary at the same time.

Wow... That's fucking horrifying. You raise your daughter, some German guy either kidnaps her or you let him have her, he marries her and rapes her, and then enslaves her to himself for the rest of time, assuming they would look down on divorcing and destruction of the divine connection. That's a horrifying world to live in as a woman.
User avatar #187 - xxabbiexx (09/26/2014) [-]
yeah there are a lot of common wedding traditions we have today, that came from shocking origins. The honeymoon also originates from places where abduction of brides was common, the groom would take her into hiding for about 30 days, thinking that would be enough times for the family to calm down hoping all would be forgiven when they returned....

Kidnapped? Forcefully, or voluntary kidnap? Cause that's fucked up. Just pick a woman, force her into marriage and rape her on your wedding night and your best friend/swordsman stands there and makes sure nobody stops it. That's fucking strange indeed.
User avatar #184 - xxabbiexx (09/26/2014) [-]
forcibly kidnapped, it originated from germanic villages, they would go to neighboring communities and just take a bride, if the family wouldn't willingly give her up

and the bride was okay with this?

I highly doubt this happened in a culture/era where a woman's opinion mattered.

Ah the good old days. So she just sat through the whole ceremony and was raped that same night? Jesus Christ
