I remember when Hot Topic sold nothing but black clothing, spiked collars, and played heavy metal in store 24/7. Basically the whole goth thing has gone the way of everything else: melded together in this perfect ball of awful where everyone's a snowflake that can be anything they want, whenever they want, and you have to take them as seriously as they want at their convenience.
The amount of goth kids that I've witnessed lately whine about society not accepting who they are while at the same time giving society the finger is just... confusing. I mean I'm old enough now to see any version of goth culture as silly, but at least they understood action and causality 15-20 years ago. They understood their image very well, and knew hate was a two-way street. I think when it comes to anything perceived as a "culture" now, it's no different than playing dress up. You're just not allowed to tell the MySpace generation that. It's a whole lot of caring over things that people don't really care about, just imitate.
Uh, MySpace is a thing, right?

I like dark colors, chains, and skulls. That is why I used to dress goth/punk.
To me it was Metal, and i mean that both literally and figuratively. I don't dress like that anymore because I have a job that involves lots of hard work in cramped conditions in hot temperatures so I have to dress light and professional so I don't die of heat stroke.
I still like the style, but I just can't wear it myself anymore.

Same here, I thought it looked cool, I never acted depressed or bashed conformity, I was friends with Goths, preps, jocks, nerds, etc. I just liked the style, still do to a certain extent. Most of my friends were the same. I still wear mostly black but that's about it.

It physically pains me to defend triggelypuffs trainers, but I read the email, and it's less cut and dry then it may seem. The reporter in question had gone to the poképals before hand and asked if they wanted to be interviewed for this event, they both declined and asked that they not be filmed. The reporters pokégear must of been acting up though, because she decided secretly recorded the triggelypuffs in her natural environment. Now while nothing illegal was done, it is still rather douchey to ask someone if you can record them and then do it anyway if they refuse, and it does raise questions about our poképhotographer reporters journalistic ethics.

Unfortunately, it is the truth. You have no expectation of privacy in public, therefore you can be filmed without giving consent (stores have been doing it for ages). This is why you can film cops at work, and they can do nothing about it. Additionally, the photographer has legal rights to your image (makes no sense to me but whatever) as ownership of image laws say that the photographer owns, not the subject.

Well it might be faulty logic when it comes to every public space and I kind of agree with you (besides you loose your "don't film me" priviledges only in a group, not when somebody follows you around with a camera - you have to be a "public" person to loose that too) but you kind of loose it when attending public organised events. All of them can be legally documented and audience (and documenting them specifically for their reactions) is part of the event. No going around that one.

It's a joke here though, no one's deleting his comment and account for it, just thumbing him down because disagreement

Subtle, Carlos; kinda subtle.

While I think Trigglypuff acted idiotically, it is worth noting that filming someone and posting it on youtube is technically a sue-able offense. Granted it would probably fail since there was no "reasonable expectation of privacy." but maybe a case could be made that there was an expectation that the actions would be contained to the crowd, not put on the web. Point is there is something there to be argued on.
