-Kanako seems fun but S1 only showed her eating.
-I definitely would have appreciated if Anya talked more fluently.
-I actually heard about Mika being shy despite her confident gyaru image. Please tell me I'll see that side of her in S2...
-Uzuki saying ganbarimasu is no problem for me. She's adorable. Riina is just a huge poser with all the "rock". Seems like the anime ruined her completely.

I'm 3 episodes into the second season and it seems like garbage. More idol drama with the evil executive director + new idols that I don't care about. They haven't even given the original girls enough attention and now they're giving me new ones. I want a Mika episode. I want a Uzuki episode. The sole reason I picked up the show is Shibuya Rin and she barely talks!

I just got used to Cinderella Project and now they're adding more girls... its like throwing the Original Imas movie backup-dancers in the middle of the actual show. It's way too early.

So that explains why Kirari and Anzu are so close. They seem even cuter now~
Minami definitely got in my Top 5 Cinderellas after the last episode. I guess she's sexy but I think her defining feature is her adult beauty. She's seriously one of the only anime girls that looks like a realistic, mature woman.

Here are some points about others too
-Kanako is a very generous girl who is willing to change herself for the “even better.” Her kindness and her soothing aura is really something I love. She puts others before herself, but she doesn’t have much self-esteem. Her weight and image are the main causes of her low self-esteem of course. As she gets stronger in-game, she will actually lose weight, and she becomes more confident (about herself) and mature as time passes (see image above).
-Anastasia doesn’t talk exactly the way she does in the anime. In the game she can construct better sentences and her Japanese isn’t as broken. She is easily influenced by others (following verbal tics, mannerisms, etc) because she doesn’t know the norm, and she does not have a strong sense of identity. Her in-game story focuses on building this sense of identity, although she seeks guidance from others, they tell her to be herself and make her own decisions.
-Mika is actually shy although she has a very confident image. She is very prone to teasing from the other characters because she’s somewhat immature and very innocent. Other than this, her character in the anime is pretty accurate.
-Uzuki doesn’t say ganbarimasu every 2 seconds in the game, and Riina doesn’t really say Rock every 2 seconds either
-Anzu, Miria, and Rika in the anime are very accurate, probably the most well-adapted (also in 2nd season)

So basically Ranko is the most cutely written and cutely designed girl ever.
Miku sounds amazing but in the anime she's just 100% nya - 0% anything else.
I still don't give a care for Chieri. Shy girls don't belong in idol anime.

Moroboshi Kirari - Kirari’s true personality is exactly what you see, a hyper, energetic, and of course, happy teenager. It is implied that she is very insecure about her height and mannerisms. She did not want to become an idol at first because she thought these aspects of her weren’t good for it. Kirari says that her height isn’t very cute, so she wears all kinds of cute clothes to make up for it, and she usually makes her own clothing and hair decorations too. She met Anzu before her idol audition and tried to speak to Anzu as normally as possible because they were still strangers. Anzu was surprised at how tall she was and told her that she was pretty weird. Kirari becomes very cautious around her, but Anzu notices it and told her that she doesn’t mind her height at all, considering she’s also too short for her age. Anzu tells her that she’s cute and fitting of an idol (which made kirari giggle with happiness). Anzu also reveals that she was 17 and that her birthday was September 2, which made Kirari excited, because Kirari’s birthday was September 1. Kirari believes that it was really fate that brought them together. Over the years in ACTUAL time, Kirari grew taller - she was 182cm tall when Cinderella Girls first came out, and she is now 185cm tall.
Nitta Minami - Minami is a smart college girl who likes to try out different activities/challenges. She is good in multiple sports, and she mainly plays lacrosse. She is independent, which helps her take care of her younger brother. Minami is good at everything she does in general, and being idol was going to be her next big challenge. She has a very confident/mature mindset, and wanted to see if she would be good at being an idol too. In the game she has some sort of hidden dark personality with an inappropriate sense of humor. Her confidence was challenged when she was performing for the first time as Love Laika. She wasn’t very confident that she was going to be successful, but since Anastasia was feeling the same way, they decided to face this challenge together. This is where Minami also learns the value of unity. During the training camp episode, she wanted to teach the other members of Cinderella Project that along with individuality, unity is also important. When she couldn’t perform in the last episode, she was devastated of course because she really values hard work, and all of it was going to waste.
Minami is considered as “the walking sex” by the fans because she has this very erotic aura to her, even though she has a very simple design.

Minami's face just screams "Kill... me..."
Okay, I finished the first season. The last episode was really, really good. It kinda makes up for the really bad episodes. It's good enough for an 8/10.

Will start season 2 tomorrow. You wanted to explain some backstory before I do, right? Now's your chance! Except I'll probably be in bed before you explain it...
#366 - xaerooo (02/15/2016) [-]
To start off, there isn't really much to say with New Generations, they are the normal representatives for their types, Cute, Cool, and Passion

It's not all backstory, but more of an explanation for the characters. I also have to mention that all of the units in the anime are anime-original, except for New Generations.
I'll be focusing on a select few

Kanzaki Ranko - Now as you already know Ranko talks in the most chuuni way possible, to the point where she has to check the dictionary a lot on her alone time. Translators have a hard time doing the kanji for her stuff. In the game, right after every couple of sentences, her dialogue is translated in normal japanese, spoken by Ranko as if you can read her mind (it's basically the producer translating her sentences for you in normal japanese). Her persona is of a fallen angel and her true personality is a shy girl who is scared of a lot of things. She has this persona to hide all her insecurities and she tries to get away from her true personality as much as possible, but when a situation gets bad/serious she will get scared and talk normally. Producer tries to stop her from changing into a completely different person. In her fantasies, the producer is some sort of avatar for an elder god. When producer replies to her in chuuni, it'll surprise her and she becomes the happiest person alive. Her sketchbook acts as a diary (which explains why she ran away when mio wanted to see it), and she is very skilled at drawing her fantasies.
Maekawa Miku – Miku became one of the most misunderstood characters by the new viewers. Her true personality is a smart, hardworking girl who takes her studies very seriously. In the anime, when she was caught yawning on camera, it was implied that she had been studying a lot in the previous night. She complained about not being able to debut early because she was not given a logical reason. Her cat personality gives her an identity for the fans (but for some reason, she hates fish, and hates it when others assume she doesn’t). She finds value in individuality, and it was challenged when she was put with Riina, who gets her identity from rock. After a lot of arguing, she realized that this was a challenge for her as an idol, and she tries to solve it through unity. Miku began to understand the importance of unity as she wrote her song with Riina, after being a very independent person for a long time.
Ogata Chieri – Chieri was one of the people that basically got the least amount of story in the anime. She’s a hardworking girl who is willing to change herself for everyone, including herself. As you know, she’s the token shy character of the cast, and there’s quite a reason for it. During her childhood, she was neglected by her parents. She barely got any attention from her parents, and it may have caused her anxiety. She has a fear of being alone/abandoned, so it explains why she is always seen with Kanako, and never seen alone. When she was young, her mother told her that four-leaf clovers brought happiness, and when they were at an outing she tried looking for one and got lost. When they found her, she thought that they’d be furious, but they were just happy to find her. When she tries to find leaf clovers now, she is reminded of that happiness – it is another way of saying that she is trying to find happiness.
