Yeah, and they probably still cut more corners than they committed overkills, but it looks better for the average fan, if they claim they spend 10.000 man hours researching medieval swords instead of just saying "we asked some dude that really knows swords".

Then again, that compilation of HP production trivia probably wasn't aimed at people like me, but I just can't help pointing out the silly bits, I guess you can call it a work related injury, in much the same way I can't help thinking about how one or another effect were created, totally ruining especially horror movies for me. Oh well, it comes with the job...

Maybe, it's impossible to say whether it would have made a difference, but from my point of view they could have cut a couple of corners with no negative effects. When doing something like this, it isn't about how much detail you can pay to everything, it's about how you reach your goal with the least effort. A good SFX techie, set builder, or model maker, knows how to get the job done so it looks amazing, without having to spend eons on it. That something is built smarter and faster doesn't in any way devalues the result, it just mean that the work is delivered faster, and that's something the rest of the crew will appreciate, because plans change all the time due to unforeseen events. If you can deliver 3 days in advance, you give everyone else a chance to adapt to whatever problems they might have at their end, thus cutting costs for everyone involved because they can keep shooting.

Usually, that's the way it is, if you can deliver a good job ahead of schedule, everyone is pleased and you'll get the next job. If you fail to deliver because you spend too long on a project, everyone will be pissed, production has to adapt because you didn't deliver on time, and its going to cost more for the production company.

Yeah I can see your point, you're probably right. I guess they knew the scope of the franchise they were creating and as a result ramped these things up to create a sense of 'movie magic' for what they presumed would be a huge, pretty obsessive fanbase.

the pulling hair was completely over the top, the mace is debatable depending on whether he's being warned to back away by police or not. if they're warning him and he's still walking aggressively toward them then yeah maybe it's justified, otherwise no way.

actually i'd like to revise that statement, the amount of mace they sprayed in his face was over the top.

I dont think it was a good series. I think the first book was good, but the next two were pretty mediocre. I think the whole gale vs petra thing was annoying and unneeded. I know it annoyed me as a reader.

It just seems pointless and stupid that you have primm who is the reason she starts down the road she goes down and yet she just dies like it doesnt matter at the very end when it was supposed to be over. I think it wasnt as deep as you think. It was just a way for the author to tie up a lose end of explaining the character away.

I only watched the first movie and decided that if they cant show the great bits of the first book then they are going to make the second ones worse than they were.

Also, whats wrong with you mate, spoilers.

I thought book 2 was the best of the 3 (and I didn't even think they were all that amazing anyway, but not bad) and I actually thought the movie of 2 was much better than the book.

Dude that book's been out for like 3 ish years, spoiler's expired. And believe it or not author's do put a little bit of thought in before killing characters, EVEN young teen fiction authors. But fair enough
