How can he be a "danger to you all" if you all are vaccinated you should have nothing to worry about. Your ignorance or reality is a real danger to ll of humanity. as for mandatory vaccines, if someone tries to force me or my family to take crap inside our body, they will be playing with their lives. Hey, if you all don't like American Rights, then go to one of the many many other countries that have no such rights, you will fit in well as they are fitting into your wells while you hold your ankles.
#204 - darknesincontrol (02/03/2015) [-]
There is no vaccine with 100% succes rate, it can be over 90% but never 100%, so there is chance you might get infected, though you dont know until you acually get it, but with herd immunity, the chance to stumble across a person who is infected is low, unless you go to a foreign country where there is a lot people with the disease. Also children has to be in certain age to recieve vaccine for different disease, so they are also in risk, along with older people with weaker immunity system which makes the vaccine less effetive on them.
#206 - invaderfromthesea (02/03/2015) [-]
Obviously 100% success rate is impossible. However if you say this 10% of failures is really important, then it's actually argument against vaccines, because it means pretty much "90% is not good enough". If we don't assume that they're effective enough that we're safe even in case of getting in contact with sick person, then it means vaccines have no good sides. Because vaccines are supported by only one, incredibly strong argument: They prevent diseases. If you say they're ineffective against diseases, then they're causing more harm than good.
It's probably the fifth time I say this today, but I'm not against vaccines. I simply understand arguments against them. They aren't good enough for me, but some people are convinced. Herd immunity suffers from it, but just slightly. It won't cause some major epidemic. However it would be nice if people going around and spewing "I know for sure that vaccines cause autism" would shut up. They probably don't even know what autism is. All they do is scare people and spread misinformation.

well the measles vaccine has 95% succes rate which is better than the 0% of no vaccine.
Being anti-vaccination is even more ineffective agianst diseases than the vaccine itself by comparison. An example here, you can save 95% of 1 million people from a certain disease, now thats a lot of people. And I think the "whole causing more harm than good" is rubbish when you think about the alternative.
There was also a measles outbreak in Disneyland recently, most of them were not vaccinated against it, and you just have to be near someone to get infected, unless you are immune of course.
#208 - invaderfromthesea (02/03/2015) [-]
That's why I believe we can say that vaccines are effective enough to be worthy of risking all possible injuries. I've said "causing more harm than good", but only if we assume that vaccines aren't effective enough to protect you in case of contact with disease. There is possibility it will fail, but it's so low that it's not really worth mentioning as an argument. Therefore, vaccines aren't "causing more harm than good".
One outbreak is just a coincidence, maybe mutation. Nothing really alarming in my opinion. Unless there are more cases like this. I don't follow the news too much.
Tell me, do I sound like I'm some terrible, tin foil hat yelling "Vaccines are evil, they protect you from diseases that no longer exist, while they cause mental disabilities such as autism" (I know autism isn't mental disability, it's part of the joke) ? Because judging by the amount of red thumbs I've gathered here, either FJ is against vaccines or they don't understand me. I asked a simple question regarding one, stupid post. I asked a question, didn't even state my opinion yet, however they assumed I'm against vaccines.
#210 - invaderfromthesea (02/03/2015) [-]
Well, this vibe came from the fact that I was trying to disprove invalid argument supporting vaccines. You know, just because argument is used to support the opinion I agree with doesn't mean I'll agree with the argument. Especially if it, logically speaking, is an argument against my opinion. The sad part is, it doesn't seem he understood what I meant.
Also, I was bothered by these red thumbs, but it's not that bad, considering one anon is sitting on my profile and red thumbing all my posts. He doesn't even read them, however he regularly returns to thumb all of my posts down. Damn, he's one hell of a dedicated bastard, doing this for over a week.

Herd immunity. There is a percentage of the population that for genetic reasons and other pre-existing reasons cannot handle having vaccinations due to extremely weak immune systems. For them to survive they rely on others to be vaccinated from preventable diseases that could kill them so it doesn't spread throughout the population and eventually reach them.
Additionally, by not getting vaccinated you are making it easier for diseases to enter the population and spread across borders, state lines, from city to city, etc. There is a point to vaccinations in every case where it is possible, and unless you have one of the aforementioned conditions where even the weakest strains of a disease could kill you(so you can't get vaccinated) there's no point in not getting one.

You see, the difference is that you know what you're talking about, while many are simply like "Vaccines are evil, they cause autism" or "Vaccines are good, because they don't cause autism". They don't even think. You present another valid argument supporting vaccines. However I never said I'm against them. I just don't pretend they are absolutely safe. Since I'm a bit on tin foil hats side, I'm willing to consider even autism is caused by something inside vaccines. However it hasn't been confirmed nor disproved. A lot of things affects autism, so even if vaccinating causes it, I highly doubt it's the only factor. I consider vaccines a lesser evil, a risk worth taking.
Because, as someone who apparently knows a bit about subject, you have to admit that vaccine injuries are valid reason against vaccines. However not good enough to not get immunized, unless, as you've said, it's absolutely sure it will cause injury. So once more against
#173 - invaderfromthesea (02/03/2015) [-]
Why would you assume I'm against vaccines? I think it's better to get shots. However I'm not pretending vaccines are 100% safe.
My main objective was to point out that by your own logic, you shouldn't get immunized, because if you think they don't work, then all you're doing is endangering yourself to potential vaccine injuries.

same for a period of time. Right now, i'm 17 btw.
This time last year i was 5' 6" and 113 lbs.
Right now, i am 5' 7" and weigh 138. When you put on weight, you want to put on the right kind of weight. I suggest working out, eating a lot, and even consider getting some protein powder or whey protein. When you workout, it cannot be a sporadic occurrence that happens maybe once a week. It's a lifestyle choice and it helps if you have a friend to go to the gym with. It might be intimidating seeing all these jacked guys around you who can lift 8x you can, but you shouldn't worry about it considering you're there to improve yourself.
