and that's the thing, she didn't rebel because she believed in Rose's cause, she rebelled so she could stay on the earth and have that power. She liked the earth for what it did, she didn't love it for what it was.

Eh, I don't know. Why would she return to home world knowing she would be taken prisoner. Why would she even try to leave earth in the first place? Once she got taken back to earth, why would she chose to remain a prisoner? Why would she be so loyal to stay in her cell when the chance of freedom is there? The theory is an interesting thought for sure, but I don't think that's it. I think Lapis was more likely an injured soldier. The Home world gems don't seem to be able to heal broken or cracked gems, so if a soldier were to be injured, unable to fight, put them to another use. Then she was just left at the warp after Home world left. Hence the urge to return to Home world when she's free.
