./thread is an expression used to say that no more contributions are necessary for the thread.

but yeah the two are said because both communites think its a funny expression

"72, 64, or 12 get to decide what happens"
person gets 12
"/thread"
/thread means it's done, what was meant to be accomplished has been done, how do you not get this?

i understand completely, but it doesn't actually stop the thread

No it doesn't, but it's not at all similar to, "im so done".
User avatar
#12 - whiteniggers (08/07/2014) [-]
yes, it is. because people use it when a funny, conclusive comment or piece of content has been added to a discussion.

which doesn't help anything, nor is it funny

I guess I gotta go ahead and repeat myself.
/thread means it's done, what was meant to be accomplished has been done
"im done" happens when something happens and they're so annoyed with the conversation that they don't wish to continue it.

Let me put that in middle school terms:
/thread means no one else could comment and it wouldn't make a difference because what was meant to be accomplished is done. It is not meant as, "EVERYONE STOP COMMENTING"
"im so done" means, "IM LEAVING THIS CONVERSATION"

Yeah, it's the same thing. But we like 4chan pink layout better than the tumblr one, so 4chan can do whatever it wants and dictates what's cool and what's not.d

it seems to me that it means (at least in this particular usage)
"stop, no more. this post is so beautiful, dont ruin it."

and it is a beautiful post.

You're thinking of recreational drugs there. Alcohol fits the definition of drug.

Totally agree, I just have to add it makes me mad when people that drink coffee/alcohol act like they're better than people that smoke for "not doing drugs". YOU do drugs too. (not you whiteniggers, but you know what I'm getting at) Also I do all three so not judging anyone, just saying.

if a drug is anything you can predict what will do to your body upon consumption, then food would qualify as a drug as we can predict what effects it will have on your body, most noticeable you wont starve

so what is a drug?
User avatar
#56 - permass (08/07/2014) [-]
there are a whole lot of different definitions to what a drug is, what i think your looking for is the definition to a recreational drug: any substance with pharmacologic effects that is taken voluntarily for personal pleasure or satisfaction rather than for medicinal purposes. The term is generally applied to alcohol, barbiturates, amphetamines, THC, PCP, cocaine, and heroin but also includes caffeine in coffee and cola beverages. taken from medical dictionary

Alcohol is a drug, moron.
#30 - superafromanxd (08/07/2014) [-]
mostly because you grow up thinking its "normal". Alcohol is glorified through advertisements and movies where they try to portray the message "drink this and you'll get laid". Whenever you see weed in mainstream media its always shown through some dirty stoner 420blazIT retard, that says bullshit like "i see pink unicorns walking around, why is my toaster talking to me?"
