>We can make better, faster computers, but we can't make a better battery? And my phone lasts a day, max, even when it's locked an un-used.

>Alright, I'll give you this. The lighter, thinner materials that would be strong enough cost a fortune and a half.

>Covered this.

>Why not make software that's just fine the way it is? If it's buggy, fix it once, maybe a second time. It shouldn't break itself or anything. Really.

>People treat their shit like shit, none of my electronics are scratched or broken. This is all up to the owner.
User avatar #49 - whatugawkinat (09/07/2014) [-]
Regardless of battery, the power consumption, even on a smartphone that is unused is far greater than that of yesterday. "Software" is always progressing and changing to meet user demands, needs and wants. Most of the updates on a phone are for apps installed. The technology is out there to create the ultimate phone, but there are two things are in play here. One being the consumer demand for things that are polar opposites (super fast, multi tasking super computer phone with the most possible data space...but in the package the size of a cracker). These things are possible, but the average consumer wants products that would make NASA and the US military drool for weeks. It's not easy to meet the demand of modern consumers. Also, you have to remember the capitalist mindset that plagues our everyday lives. If companies took all their resources and created the ultimate unbreakable phone with unlimited battery life...there would be very little business and no repeat customers. Phones are at their peak as far as we the consumer and "they" the manufacturers will allow them to be.
User avatar #17 - ninjaroo (09/07/2014) [-]
Our batteries are maybe two or three times as good, but we're doing ten or eleven times as many things with a smartphone and all of those things require more power individually than phones used to as a whole.
Don't like it? Don't get smartphones.
User avatar #18 - heartlessrobot (09/07/2014) [-]
Then make batteries 20 times better. Just give us batteries like 3 car batteries worn as backpacks and can be recharged at an outlet.
User avatar #19 - ninjaroo (09/07/2014) [-]
Well, no company is going to bother doing that for you since they wouldn't be making any money off of it, but if you like the idea feel free to try it. Just hook the car batteries up to a phone charger and the charger up to your phone. EZPZ.

Represent something that is the only thing some service members have left.

Those that have lost contact with their family, lost their friends lives. Lost their freedoms to do as they please, all they have left is their brotherhood and their experiences
(adventure). This is rare but it exists for some.

It is not to be represented by someone who has not done those things.
Like wearing the uniform and receiving praise for bravery.
When you just bought it on ebay.

I wasn't representing anything. What I said could have been taken the wrong way, but countless family members and friends are/were in the military. I may not have experienced it, but I am familiar with the experiences. I in no way intended anything to come off as being against or demeaning the brotherhood and overall family mentality of those who serve...only bring up the fact that far too many people look for everything that the military offers only to disregard the important fact that it's not about friends, family and challenges...it's about giving up a piece of your life (if not all of it) for the sake of freedom. In other words, I was just trying to make sure this kid was doing this for the right reasons. I support the military and support those who willingly serve, but hate seeing someone with their whole life ahead of them make such a serious decision that affects not only themselves, but their family and friends as well with the only given reasons being adventure, challenge and excitement. I respect the military, but when they advertise service as some sort of uplifting, soul searching summer camp, it scares me to death that people join for the vague reason of doing something good with the mindset that it's just a career that helps people. Long story short, it's a serious decision and the primary focus shouldn't be on challenges and excitement.

You cant speak of brotherhood and adventure of a military type until you've done it.
You know nothing about it.
The same why i cant comment on being driven insane by paparazzi because im famous.

Im not famous, and you're not a damn Marine, soldier, sailor, or airmen.

You have an idea of brotherhood, like i have an idea of being driven insane by coverage.

But you dont see me telling people to calm down its not so bad being followed all the time.
