- It wasn't like lightning bending was impossible to do. Just no…
Dude, there were like 3 people that could shoot lightning in the entire world in ATLA
And that was after a hundred years of war, sharpening the skills of the firebenders
It could be that the royal family wouldn't share the secrets with most fire benders so they could still have an ability others couldn't use. Helps prevent any uprisings from gaining traction that way.
Even knowing the secrets it was always mentioned as the highest skill of firebending
It requires serious talent and hard work
Also it was stated to be dangerous, so a job thats entirely based upon shooting lightning, instead of just heating water with a turbine...
And this confirms my theory on it being a technique reserved for select few:
"Until at least the end of the Hundred Year War, the ability to generate lightning was an incredibly rare skill, usually reserved for the inner circles of Fire Nation royalty and high-ranking military officers. The only firebenders who had demonstrated the ability to actively generate lightning were Princess Azula, Iroh, and Fire Lord Ozai."
And guess what, they were by FAR the best firebenders in the entire world
Lightningbending even incorporates concepts of yin and yang and inner balance
And your point? Yes they were the best fire benders, but no where does it say that they were the only ones capable of creating lightning. It's an ability all fire benders could learn. The problem was that only a select few were allowed to learn it until after the war. Then it became public knowledge.
Balance and concentration were requirements. Most people are balanced anyways. Especially after the war when firebenders were taught that fire didn't have to come from anger like they had been taught for years.
And what part of ATLA said that only those 3 could do it? Iroh said it takes a lot of concentration. It's likely that it was a "secret technique" that was reserved only for high ranking fire benders who were permitted to learn it. Fire benders have the capacity to learn it. Just like earth benders and metal bending. It's just difficult to do. After the hundred year war, those techniques were taught to other people.
>sharpening the skills of the firebenders
The war sharpened their skill, but not necessarily their overall knowledge on bending. We've seen that Ozai controlled what the people of the Fire Nation could learn. Remember when Aang went to school? They were teaching them that the Air Nomads had an army and made it sound like it was a provoked attack. It's not a stretch to believe that Ozai and his predecessors limited what kinds of bending would be taught to fire benders.
Remember the Sun worshipers in book 3 when Zuko and Aang learned a whole new way of fire bending? For years fire benders thought that fire could only come from rage, but those sun people practiced their bending from the dragons and did not rely on anger. Ozai's regime(and most likely his father's and grandfather's) taught that fire came only from rage. Not even Zuko knew it could come from elsewhere. It seems perfectly reasonable that Ozai would keep an extremely powerful technique like lightning hidden from commoners. Only Iroh, Zuko, and Aang knew how to redirect it and if everyone knew how to do it, it's just asking for an assassination attempt. Ozai was not well loved by all Fire Nation people. Many would jump at the chance to kill him.

How did it react and behave going forward after that? Did he observe and learn how to be a cat and adopt that kind of lifestyle or did he remain acting like a dog?
This happened before I was born so I didn't witness it. When I met him, he was a "normal" cat. When I say "normal", I mean as normal as he'd ever get. The bastard willingly ate hot peppers and loved it. Not a single animal in my family is ever normal by any means.
According to both my parents, he thought he was a dog and when they got a second cat, he just realized he wasn't a dog. I don't know the details on the transition.

Im only Supporting Donald Trump for president because he is a cool dude and doesn't afraid of anything!
lol if Trump keeps doing how he is doing I wouldn't mind seeing him in there for 16 years
Of course Pence could be interesting to have in office to even if he is a little ec"static" in his exuberance.
Jokes aside I mostly support trump because he seems to be trust worthy when you consider his background before entering the scene of politics. He is a billionaire so its not like he is going to be bought out and he isnt afraid to fight back when people challenge him. It is nice to see somebody in office rightnow that has backbone.
